Hola. I'm starting to collect parts for a conversion of an m52 2.8 motor into an e30 shell for rallying. Purchased the engine from kevo ( little bro - well not so little) and was wondering what's the way to go with exhaust systems? At the moment I have e36 manifolds and that's it. I know my bro runs a twin exhaust pipe the length of the car and heard others run a single pipe?
What are your views on this and if single is the way to go what size bore?2.5 inch min?
The car will be used for rallying so don't need shiney big not tailpipes etc just something strong that won't fall off or catch on the floor too much
Exhaust system question??

im running m52 tubular manifolds (ports reemed out), 2 down pipes into a Y piece then 2.5' from there.....
get yourself to prospeed exhausts in cardiff mate, see a guy called charlie and he will sort you out
£400 i payed for a full system
the single 2'5 sounds nicer than twin pipes imo

Is that right? Kevs sounds pretty fruity. I think it's easier to tuck up and hide a single pipe from stones etc in forestry.
Fair bit of time yet before getting exhaust etc. Just thought I'd ask the experts

yeah kevs sounds nice mate, he was down my way the other night......
but with the single 2.5' you have to hear it, its a deeper more growly sound
no disrespect to kev mind you, obviously like.... other people may disagree but i just love the sound of mine. its porn

Would you not have more clearance with 2 smaller pipes running side by side than with one larger diameter pipe running the length of the car?

Just thought less of an area to come into contact. I see what you mean if larger pipe hanging down little further. Will have to have a look. Cheers

Yep, twin pipes will give more ground clearance. Thread here -
