The pot in the pic above does not seem deep enough, hard right handers and I get fuel starvation from half a tank, it must be jumping out of the pot where the pickup is located.

Your more than welcome Paul, keep meaning to get down to see you turd, not been down since it came back from Matts.
I dare say powdercoating that will be pretty costly wouldn't it? Might look into it.
Dan, i'll try measuring the pots original and new tank and let you know, along with comparative pics!

Got a pic of the to swirl pots, the first is the ECP tank and looks the same as your GSF one. They seem about the same depth but the ECP pot looks a lot bigger so that might be the issue!?

Rob, they were £19.73 for the feed and £17.00 for the return from Cotswolds. The feed on the car look pretty mint if wanted that.

Wow, not updated this since April
Unforetunately this has had to take a complete back seat since then thanks to more important and far shitter things to deal with.
Tank is all painted up and attempted to get that fitted last week however i found out that it's a near impossible task being just on axle stands. Just kept getting stuck on the rear beam or fouling one of the sills. Thanks to that i've decided the ream beam can all come out and i'm doing the rear disc swap and a refurb of all the area now. So today I had the car trailered back down to my Mum's and put in her garage which is far bigger to give myself some space to work and get this done.
Should have it all stripped this week, rear arms being collected tomorrow and then time to sort out powder coaters, also going to get a spare pair of front struts and crossmember done at the same time.
Might have the thing on the road one day

Spent a couple of hours removing the diff, ARB, fuel filler neck and gave everything else a good squirt of WD to hopfully make live a bit easier.
26 years worth of crud from above the fuel venting system, could've been worse i guess

Off to pick up the rear arms later and hopefully another crossmember will be delivered tomorrow for powder coating.

Have a good prod around those brackets at the top of the arch where the vent bottle bolts up - you might need to get the welder out !

All looks pretty much like new up there thankfully Rob, same in the boot as well. Only found three places that need a welder so far on this car, battery tray, transmission tunnel near where you rest your left peg and the rear section of the near side sill. Every thing else that's been brown so far has just been surfice crud thankfully.

Well so much for remving the rear beam & arms being a sod of a job, it was off inside 30mins of starting today, love how easy everything has come off this car

Now for a few more pics of underneath and the arches.

Given it all a clean up since and nothing more has become apparent other than a few bits of surface rust around a few threads, by the brackets and a few under the floor. Going to blast these areas with a grinder and wire brush back to bare metal and then treat them with something. Once that's done what do you guys recommend painting everything with? Somekind of underseal followed by a coat of waxoyl or just straight in with the waxoyl?

The screw on the top bracket for the vent container thing is still black without a hit of rust on the head
Most cars i've had i've pretty much torn that bracket off trying the remove the filler neckcapri_rob wrote: That filler neck bracket on my car is fooked - had to grind the head off the bolt to get the neck off

I'm going to be buying the underseal this week, however what do you all suggest I do with the wheel arches? I don't want to use the same textured shultz as underneath.

If its to go over the top of stuff thats already there then just clean it as much as possible then spray or brush clear waxoil over it and into all the nooks and crannies. Doesnt look like you need to take any bits back to bare metal?
I used diesel to clean mine off, soft-ish wire brush and compressed air to get rid of the dry mud/dirt then wipe over with a diesel soaked rag, its oily and will soak into any cracks in sealer etc. Then get busy with the waxoil, the proper stuff in 5 litre cans not aerosols

There are a couple of bits that do need taking back Dan, small bit on the back of the wheel well plus a bit in this pic by the rear valance/chasis rail;

Also there is a small split in the paint on this bracket i'd like to get at;
. Can you put them to one side for me, should be over Dans in the few weeks to collect the scrap me & Ferg dumped on him

Bit more progress, all the bits of flakey seam sealer and surfice rust has now been removed and primered up ready for fresh seam sealer, not been a fun job at all!
Just a couple of pics, was far more patches though and the back of the spare wheel well was an bloody pain to get in at.

Now to chose the finish under there, thinking just going over with black shultz

black shutz left to dry then a jolly good splashing of waxoil should suffice

I've already got Waxoyl ready to go along with a gizmo to get in at the box sections
It's more the finish under that I was thinking about. Shutz looks the easiest, will grab some from the local motor factors later.

Got the seam sealing done yesterday, bit of a messy job so hopefully worth it, then shutz'd it this morning. Will get onto the rear arches next weekend.
It has since had another touching up to get the few bits i missed with the first tin.

Just got to get a load of new bits ordered for refitting the tank, fuel lines, brake pipes etc etc etc

Fuel filler neck bracket, there was the tiniest crack in the stone chip i'd only noticed on real close inspection today so took the wire brush to it to expose this..........

Mulled over what to do for a few minutes due to how pitted it was but the inside being totally unmarked. Eventually bit the bullet and out came a screw driver and all felt fairly solid until i hit that sweet spot. It's only a small localised area and it's already arranged for the 17th to be cut out and repaired, will be a long wait but at least i cn still get on with getting the underneath finished in the mean time.
