The speedometer and odometer and trip are all in KPH on my car (316i m40). There are no MPH markings what so ever!

I don't mind this all that much, as I have a good idea about what speed is what. However my girlfriend doesn't like it (been a new driver) and get a bit paranoid around speed camera's etc.

I don't want to change the clock over completely as its a pretty low mileage (64 000) so i don't want to loose that.

Can you just get a face for the clock which will have both? Are m3 clocks (I assume they have both???) interchangable?

I seam to rember reading that the needles can be easily damaged is this correct?

The car has obviously passed all its MOT's like it is, I thought that you had to have the speedo in MPH to pass the MOT, or am i wrong?

thanks :)

I'm pretty sure you can just change the face over, the odometer will read incorrectly still.

A vehicle needs to have an MPH speedo in this country to pass an SVA test. Like when you register an import that has not passed the various regs for this country.

I think as long as your carefull with the needle it should be fine.

ffs

Divide by 8

Multiply by 5

It's called mental arithmetic

If you can drive a car then this should be easy.

My M3 still has the KPH clocks, it doesn't have both, you are thinking of MPH clocks, as they have the KPH in smaller writing.

Mine's been fine for MOT's it's been in the country since 1997 like it, and I've just learnt what's what!

even simpler

work out the matching mph/kph readings

use tippex/tape to mark relevant lines on speedo covering

Memorise readings

remove lines

Alternatively a quick multiplication by 0.625 should suffice

Oh well not that bothered, what i really wanted was KPH main (so my odometer would be correct) will MPH in small letters around.

I can cope with the maths, I know where the needle should be.

just one of those things to get used to!
