wierd heaters, HEEEELP!!!

help me guys, i've got some interior heater issues....

Right, im gonna try my best to explain it, so read carefully....

I can have hot air coming out of my windsreen vents and out of my feet vents, but at the same time i cannot have hot air blowing out of my face vents.

the face vents always blow cold except when you turn the heater control knob right round to 'boiling hot!!' but then its too hot to have on...

is this the norm, or is there something wrong? if there is something wrong, what could it be?

sounds like it could be the heater control valv, n.s. of heater. failing in that i would try heater rheastat.

If it was the Heater control valve, it would cause a problem through all of the vents.

E30 heating was always a bit "all or nothing" there were complaints about it when it was new. People complain about Z3's as well (as thats the same system)

ive a feeling that if it were the heater control valve then it would be all the heaters affected.

its just such a wierd problem that i cant number it down. does the face vents run throught the same part of the matrix as the feet/screen vents???

maybe brianmoore can help???

Its down to the flap/diverter(sp) for the face vents, something in the design of the mechinism.

sorry to but in here, but does anybody know why......
when the car is up to tempreture and blowing nice hot air, why the hell does it blow cold after a "good" thrashing??
