I have a 318i 1989 4dr - My rear passenger side power window motor seems to be dead. I have tried swapping the switches but it didn't help.Have confirmed that there is power supplied to the moto but no "life".... should i pronounce it dead or is there hope for it still?
Also on the same note, my windows don't work with the ignition turned off and door open like all good E30s do...and this is making me very sad...any advice?

Take the door card off, disconnect the round motor plug and apply power straight to the motor. One way around should make it go down, the other way make it go up.
Fuse for windows with door open is 28 (30A), which is also for the aerial and fag lighter. If this is OK, can you hear a faint click from the back of the glovebox when you open the front doors?

Sorry if I sound silly, but what would be the quickest and easiest method of getting direct power supplied to the motor. Do I just have to bypass the switch?(eg tap power from the connector?)

Mains powered PSU if you have one, battery charger, a wire from the battery, or a cigarette lighter plug.
If you take the wire straight from the battery, either include a 30A fuse, or be very carefull what you do with the live end of the wire. It can make big sparks if it touches the bodywork!
