Got my 318is in for MOT tomorow at 4pm,anyone want to wish me luck

Spent the weekend going through it and i am pretty confident about it.
Cleaned under all the arches, including susp/brakes etc and all bushes look ok and steering etc seems fine too :)

Took the rocker cover off and give it a quick dose of Black paint, not perfect but looks better than it did. When fitting it back on,the top breather split so on further checking so were all the others, either split, hard or disconnected,so end up replacing them all  but what a difference its made, took it up the road(private of course winkeye ) and massive difference, really smooth in all gears, very impressed :D
Fixed washers and sorted all the lights.
Also took the dreaded towbar off at the same time :D
Gave it a hoover inside and its come up mint :D

Do have a slight problem with electric roof, see Tech section :)

Well hopefully this time tomorow it MAYBE MOTed so i can charge to the post office and get it Taxed, thats as long as my cover note turns up winkeye

Cant wait to take it out on a decent (legal) blast up the carriageway :D

Some serious smiley abuse there. Good luck with the MOT, if you're this confident now you should hopefully walk it.

E30s don't need luck to get through the MOT, it should just be a formality.
Took one of mine in two years ago,(my 318 runaround, which gets seriously used and little maintainence) to a place I hadn't used before and the VOSA inspector turned up.
MOT took two hours, and they'd been through every detail. Not even an advisory.

Don't fail on a silly little thing like no water in the screenwash bottle, a blown lamp, or duff wiper blade.
Once had a tail lamp bulb blow on the way to an MOT, and the other one blow on the way home!

FAILED

Just got back from the MOT and its failed on power steering rack and Gearbox to exhaust bracket missing!

Bracket on the exhaust is simple fix but steering rack is a bit of a bummer cause i cant afford to buy a new one at nearly Ԛ£200 cause ive got to tax it aswell and pay for a retest

So does anyone have a spare rack, local to me for sale cheap?I will post in wanted section in a minute.
If not its another sicky tomorow and treck round the local scrappys for one!
Either way i need this car on the road ASAP,already booked the retest for %pm on Wednesday!

Andrew (demlotcrew) mentioned he cud get them that cheap

my info on the topic is limited, theres a very good article about it in the tec section though

A PAS rack from a 6 pot will fit, but you will need to swap the hoses over.

The E36 rack swap is quite involved, you need to manufacture a steering linkage, plus get the hydraulic hoses made up, plus you need some spacers made up. Not a 5 minute job.

:woohoo: [img][/img]my 318is is now MOTed :)

Blagged the day off work and went to the scrap yard to get the rack, ended up getting the steering rack, coupling and pipes and an oil cooler front grill off 325i all for Ԛ£20!
Fitted it all no problem, took it for retest and no problem, but got out of the garage to late for the post office so ill have to Tax it tomorow instead.

Still got a couple of things that need sorting, clutch slave cylinder losing pressure and horrible noise from N/S/F wheel, think its the back plate where ive smacked the track rod end out,but ill do these this week.

But for now im happy :D
