And so it begins......
Image
A bit blurrrrrry (had oil or some crap on the lens)

head off..
Image

Now just look at the state of the gasket...
Image
Image

Safe to say, it's not in the best condition,
and as some/most of the water ways in the gasket are rusty and flakey, I wonder if any of the rust sh1t got into the system...?

The heads away being skimmed now, because it looks like some monkey had done it before..... with a stihl saw, ruff as fook is an understatement

So when it comes back, i'll stick it all back together and that should be that, hopefully.

(If the head bolts play nicely)

Also,
does anyone know why the exhaust ports differ in colour ???
Image

Ahhhh, could have something to do with the crusty spark plugs I took out, making it not burn the fuel properly? causing discolouration to the inside of the exhaust manifold... (?)

Looks like its had no antifreeze in the system. Make sure you buy new bolts as they have a coating due to the alloy block

Why thicker gasket? A bit of extra comp wont be a bad thing :D

The thicker one is due to the amount that needs taken off, honest if you had seen it,
it genuinely looked like it had been done with a hand saw or a chainsaw, absolutely shocking,

it's not an over sized gasket on order, its just the 2.05 one,
which will just about even it out i think,

or still,

the lower the comp.......... better for boosting or in my case Gassing

Danski..

do you know of anything that can go in place of this pipe that goes into the back of the water pump housing?
Like something off another engine say...?

Image

Just for piece of mind, because i dont trust it for some reason,
You ever had any problems with these?
or
should I just keep it as is ?

Keep it, a steel pipe is much more reliable than the earlier all rubber mess like on my E34.
Put a pair of new O rings on it if you think you need to.
I will be using one on my new E34 donk when I get round to building it

might be worth a search on US ebay for some US Spec M3 cams. iirc they are called S52 cams (US M3's are just M52's with a set of cams and were named S52's)

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

All goooooood

started straight away, bled up lovely,
so going to take it for.... a gentle drive :)

1 little problem tho....

it idles absolutely spot on,
But when revving its sort of hunting about a bit,
Like it's missing...
I pulled the spark plugs, tested them, there fine, all sparking away like they should,

but it's defiantly missing a bit when i put my foot down

So need to find out what it is
