Did a few rings in the car, takin a buddy for a spin. Did about 5 rings and stopped, went to pull away and my power steering is after failing.

Anyone have any ideas what i'm after doing damage to? Pump, belt, rack???

Dark outside so I cant get a good look down inside to do a visual inspection and I had a good look at where we were and I dont think anything has fallen off the car.

Its a 325 sport, any help much much appreciated

Cheers lads,
ian

Steering is failing in what way? Useual failure mode is for the rack to develop a leak.
If it's sudden and complete failure of the power assistance, and you're the type of person who never checks this kind of thing, then the belt could have broken.

All of a sudden complete failure. I'm thinking the belt might have gone but as I said, we had a check of where we were and I didnt find anything on the ground.

Going to have to wait untill the morning at any rate to have a proper look. Had the car checked over before I bought it a few weeks ago so I assumed all way well with it.

Had a guy have a quick look at it today, belt is intact. Fluid is in the resvoir so no hose is slpit. All he could think of is maybe the pump has siezed.

Must call back to him in the morning and leave him put it up on a ramp to get a proper look, he was too bust today unfortunatly. Bastard to park when your not used to not having the power.
