Apex shocks, with Bilstien springs, should be ok right?

Just a quicky guys.Ive got an Apex 60mm all round kit comming for my 318.And im after going 60/40.So what i plan on doing, is fitting the kit on the car, but just replacing the rear springs with some Bilstien ones i have that are 40mm.This should fit fine yeh? The shocks can take it as their meant for 60mm springs.So they should be fine yeh?


I imagen they will, i read a lot about people mixing and matching differnt shocks/springs for optimum performance, and as long as the shocks are uprated ones and meant for the job i cant see a problem.

Don't think Bilstien do springs only, the ones that come with their streetline and sprintline kits are ventura springs which are sold seperately through eurocar parts.

I posted a similiar suspension question and was advised by most people not to mix and match springs and shocks, ie buy a kit apex, h & r, chassis dynamics, or the bilistein sprintline (I think thats the expensive one with shortened dampers)

Hi mate.Yeh the 40mm springs are from a Bilstein streetline kit.
Often people put differnt springs in with Mtech shocks etc and dont seem to have too many problems...

Dont mean to put this to the top and hog the space! but im fitting the kit tommorow, be nice if anyone else could offer an help

As far as I know, Bilstein kits come with Ventura branded springs (red coloured ones) and they are not rated highly.

Bilstein and Sachs Boge are the 2 companies that make M-Tech rated shocks for the E30s.

And as for springs, usually, Eibach or H&R.

Since you have already asked questions here about this particular setup of yours, and gone ahead and purchased bits, I would say your only option now would be to put it all on and see how it goes.

You've probably not had many replies because not many would have gone for the setup you have chosen.

Oh right.Well cheers for your reply mate.I just thought more people would of mixed springs and shocks.I know a lot of guys put new springs on cars with Mtech shocks etc so i wasnt sure if it would be a problem or not.

Oh well.Ill stick the rear springs on and if it dosnt ride nice ill just by some decent rear springs.

Bilstein shocks are hard to beat but Ive never known anyone to use their springs. I didnt even know they made them.

Well i think their not acltually Bilstien springs, just ones that they put in to their cheap Susspension kits.But the thing is ive got a 60mm kit comming, but i think front and rear that might be too low, so i was planning on just putting the 40mm springs i had from a bilstein kit in the rear.It might not ride amazing at first, but will be ok till i can afford some better springs.Just means that it wont be scraping the ground so much!
