Hey all,

did mine on me own but would suggest two pairs of hands (you quite obviously have a partner so get her to help! I wont ask how she broke it but heres how she can fix it.

1. remove steering wheel
2. remove lower cardboard trim under drivers side dashboard
3. remove plastic trim under steering wheel column (you cant remove the top but pull it out the way gently)
4. you will see the two screws holding the stalk on
5. you will need to take a picture with a digital camera now cause there are loads of wires coming off of it (main beam etc) that way you have a record of how they go back!
6. go to a scrap yard and do the same as above
7. cut the SCRAP car wires off
8. go home get a soldering iron and unsolder the wires on the SCRAP car stalk unit.
9. unsolder ONE of the broken stalk wires and immediately solder the wire onto the replacement stalk (this one at a time method is best cause there are lots of wires and it will avoid confusion)
10. once finished test it
11. stick it all back together
12. use the passenger seat for those things in the future!

if you need any more help let me know!

Note to self: If 'The_Game' sells his car, and I go to have a look at it, check the seats for stains!

Not that I'd do that sort of thing in a car, me never!

i think there is a multi-plug connector if you follow the wiring from the stalk, just unplug and replace stalk, plug new one in and away you go :D

there may have been but i couldn't find it!!! plus from memory the way the wires route you would have to drop the steering column and that is difficult, or remove the dash which is equally a pain in the arse. and i have had the dash out on other occasions and didn't have a DOH moment when i found the connector. (because i did the solder job on my own i burnt the fcuk out of my fingers.

but if i am wrong someone will point it out!!!

have a look the green bundle of wires are the ones soldered to the stalk (sorry for the outlining looking suspiciosly like the object that apparently lead to the demise of the original stalk!!) that loom is also a part of other looms so reckon the solder job is easiest all round.(with two people!)

and a blurry shot of the soldered connections....
