Can anyone adding their name to the list keep dazleeds as the last person on the list and fill in the blanks ie 11. 12. 13. 14 etc but always keep dazleeds last unless he decides other wise. He hasnt got a tourer at the moment so wants one of the last made so that he will get a spoiler when he gets his car.

bmv should receive the original today or tommorrow.

I know its slow progress but we are getting there. I want to get this moving because I am down Ԛ£110 I paid for the original spoiler

Cheers

Paul

Probably a dumb question, but will our super-great replica spoilers mount with the same sort of factory clips, or will they simply glue-on? Just curious.

i have just bought a spare tailgate so i can play around with the fitting and attachment,it will be as near to oem fitment as possible.
the only difference will be it won,t be made of rubber and about a teenth of the weight of the origional.

Thought that might be the case. It would be good to have one that doesn't flex and crack the paint.

Yes sorry I have been meaning to do an update as it has been a while since the initial post. It took a while to find a spoiler and get it shipped to bmv plus making the mould isnt straight forward. I PM'd bmv the other day to see what the progress was. The following is quoted from his reply that he said I can use as an update
bmv wrote:just on with the second half of the mould, the first one is done and trimmed to the centre of the product to give a guide to the start and finish of the mould seam.just building up the layers of glass matting now.
first you finish and wax the plug around 8 coats, and polish each one, then a layer of tooling gell, then leave for a day
then a layer of tissue, then a layer of 1oz mat, leave for 5 hours then a layer of 2oz matthen leave untill the next day :D
two layers of 2oz for a further two days then a layer of core mat, continue untill there are 8 layers of 2 oz and two layers of core mat.then leave for 3/4 days, the longer it is left the stronger and straighter the mould is because it helps support itself.
you cannot put too many layers on too fast because if you get any heat build up the mould it will move and we will end up with wonky spoilers.
i am where the smiley is at the minute but on the second side, then the fitting side to sort out  then we will be on cam
nigel

We just need to be paitent chaps :D

You would need to get them painted to match your car same as the originals BMW items.

The original BMW spolier is made of black rubber which is then painted to match the car it is going on. These are fiberglass so will be lighter and easier to paint. bmv said the paint on the one he used for the mould was cracking due the the spolier flexing these new ones will be much better

Cheers guys :D

Last time I spoke to bmv he was going to do an initial batch of 10 followed by a batch of 5. I was worried that people who have expressed an interest in the past may have lost interested due to the time it has taken from the first post to now.

The thing is once the initial mould is made it shouldnt be to much trouble to make a few more is there is still interest.
