Well, today was it's final outing for the year

The tax runs out tomorrow and I'm f*cked if I'm paying for another 6 months when the majority of the weather is shite. Plus I need the space at home for a certain XJ-S thats coming my way for some fettling.

So tomorrow, she's off to my other garage for laying up for the winter. There is a list of jobs to do while laid up:

1. replace all the front bumper trims and the rear bumper end caps. I have one new front corner, I just need to order the rest.

2. Fit this:

Ok. Thats not mine but I have one identical. I've just ordered the single missing 8-10mm open ended spanner, the bulb foam and the foam pad for the bootlid. I've been after one of these for ages but they go for stooopid money on eBay. I picked mine up at an autojumble. I will need to modify the boot trim but that shouldn't be an issue.

3. Fit my new minty mint dash from a 60k 316 I found. This will give me a chance to sort out the various looms added over the last few years, to factory fit. OBC, Cruise plus stereo wiring.

4. Change the rear amp to a larger one for the rears.

5. Sort the drivers seat out as thats stopped tilting after all that work earlier in the year

Hers a few shots I took today. Been a fun year and has run faultlessly. But by this time tomorrow, it'll be sorned!

All wrapped up for the winter. Realised today that I really dragged it out too early this year. MOT in March 8O . Need to MOT and Tax it a month later really. But we are where we are as they say and today, it was stored.

After 5 trips to the dump on Saturday and selling mums car last month, it's given me a bit more space in the garage.

All weight off the tyres and suspension. Note windows cracked open for breathing.

Cable you can see is for the trickle charger:

First cover on. This is a breathable indoor number I bought of Josh. Does the job well but I have put a slight tear in the top of it

Hence the need for it's car cap to stop dust and shite getting into the hood.

This garage is breezy as hell so stays lovely and dry. My garage at home is so damp in the winter, it would kill it so how lucky am I to have this little bolthole :D

What do you do with the engine over the winter Trev ?

Do you use a battery conditioner and start/run it every now and again or just disconnect the battery and start it up in the spring ?

Battery stays connected or the si board would discharge. Rarely start it as even getting it to temp on tickover can cause condesation within. Best left alone until spring when it'll be fired up, run round the block before being treated to a fresh sump of oil.

That's about all that's due next year. Cambelt, coolant and brake fluid is due the following year.

Relating back to the leather works - I too have an Alpine white II preface cab with indigo blue leathers. I've also secured a full spare set of seats and I'm going for the refurb this winter as I'd like them to look better. I'm going to try the citrus cleaner, neatsfoot stuff to nourish it and then I'll probably use the liquid leather feed I've got.

I was going to reconollise them but I'd rather try and uncover what's still there as opposed to recolouring.

Today I picked up the final parts for the extended tool kit. I now need to modify the SE boot trim to fit. I think I'll use Adits idea of the e34 screws and caps to mount, although not original e30, it will look neater.

Now all complete. The only thing I had to modify was the bulb foam as it was e28 fare and so had the earlier non halogen bulbous headlight bulb cutout. Fo now I have placed a pre cut insert into which I've slotted an H3 fog bulb. I may try to find a new peice of foam of the same type and cut my own for e30 bulbs and fuses at a later date.

Also the bootlid foam is not strictly correct as it's for an e24. Note the semi circle cut out at the bottom. However, thats the only one now available  All other of that size are NLA. Note now they are also black foam not white?

I'll post some fitted but I reckon its gonna look okay.
