hi to everyone on the forum
ive been wanting to do my own little project for a while now, having bought and sold a few e30s in the past i knew what to look for and what i wanted
i wanted to get my hands a little dirty maybe lol but i dont know what it was, i just didnt want a ready built perfect car this time.
i wanted something to do i guess???
so the hunt was on and i found a sport in lach silver yes it was rotten as an old apple but it had a great history, was a good colour had a few goodies and had no rust in the roof which was my main concern
once i took delivery the car sat on the driveway through the winter as i couldt be bothered in the cold weather, so in early april i got to work on it stripping it down, carefully removing the kit, interior, wings and front panel :)
heres a few pics of where i have got to now its over to the bodyshop to fit new inner and outer arches and new sills S/H wings and front panel and then paint the car.
the bodyshop im using are a restoration company so im hoping the work will be of a good quality and they are also taking step by step pics for me so i can add this to the history of the car

At least the wheels look in good condition. Good luck wish I had a big open space like that to work on my car.

nah it wasnt that bad to be honest the inner arches were the worst part they were replaced with new and so were the outer arches
the sills althogh i bought a new pair were not that bad at all so the panel beater cut the sections off the new sill and replced where he needed to
the scuttle isnt too bad and can be easily repaired and plated in my opinion but ive ordered a new one with the chassis no stamped in anyway so not sure if i shud be replacing the whole lot or just get him to cut them sections out and replace???

Lovely looking motor.! How much did the resto company charge you to restore it if you don't mind my asking..?

I've got a lachsilver cab, definitely the best colour IMO.!

if only one company did the work  lol
at first i had sent it to a company that was gonna charge me a very reasonable £1300 to paint both sides of the car and do the welding work that excluded the panels which i had to purchase.....cutting a long story short they faffed me around and didnt start any work for 3 months, when they did start work they took 3 more months just to fit the rear inner arches...!!!

picked it up from them and dropped it to another company to complete the welding work...then dropped it to a mate who at mates rates painted my whole car instead of just the sides :D

all the labour work, stripping it bare and fitting it all back, changing the dash, some stonechipping and fully waxoyling the shell was mine.

paint and welding cost me around £2k...im guessing it would have cost alot more if i didnt put any of my time into it lol

the rear panel was otherwise perfect/mint bar that hole so this was cut out plates shaped, welded, linished and then stonechipped.

yeah mate the earlier tech2 sports had tech1 steering wheels i think

lol i see why you say that and it does look patchy in the pics!
the reason it looks patchy is because i had the lower part of the car stonechipped with the 3M stuff too then painted, a bit like some of the old fords.
i did this to protect the sills and lower parts of the doors :D its the stonechip making it look patchy res assured winkeye

when they grinded the scuttle back the rust wasnt that bad so they just cut the affected area and welded new metal in

the new scuttle was something like fifty odd quid i think cant be sure...i didnt use it in the end lol its sat in the garage loft, maybe use it one day on another project winkeye
