i get the beam and trailing arms back tomorrow as they weren't ready but were nearly done.

5 of my 6 bushes are waiting for one one more to join them so i should have all the parts needed back with me tomorrow fingers crossed again

i've not purchased the splitter just yet as i'm waiting on a reply from someone who has one never fitted from the group buy where i got my old one.

105.00 USD = 64.6195 GBP only £10 more than the one i had but this new one has a leatherette finish, oooooooh said the crowd! :snigger:

time to get this show back on the road so some arse end action is required, this job is the one job i've not looked forward to doing after reading of other peoples problems attempting it.

same goes for t'other side

and the new beam, all bushed up .

Image

^^ i've got some smoothrite in a rattle can to finish the beam ,the trailing arms are bushed up and have also been blasted and primered and also await a coat of black smooth-rite :D

the rear arms and diff are out so i just need to get the beam out tomorrow ready for a good underseal and waxoil before all the new parts go back in.puchased x4 goodrich s/s flexis and some void fillers for the rear bushes.

Image

problem! how do i get the old h/brake cables out? i've cut them to get the arms off the carbut they wont budge with an initial yank :? there must be a way winkeye

Image

wtf goes on here ?? i bought an m50 air box with new k&n panel filter and tried to fit it to the new bellows i have but it isn't working is it :(

Image

what do i need to buy now ? a smaller samco hose or something ??

Undo the handbrake cables at the lever obviously and they just yank out at the underside of the car mate
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

I keep getting one of my standard airboxes out the garage and have a go at fitting them, but end up with a similar result, so the chavvy cone filter goes back on

Is that alarm thing in the way? You need an E36 throttle hose

you want some mole grips on the handbrak cables, give them a twist and they should pull out, they can be a bit annyoing but nothing really bad some WD won't hurt either first

Saves beasting them out by cutting them, new cables are dear!

that is an e36 m50 hose dan,got a receipt in the cars peado-File with a part number so can check that one out,i'll check but i think the box clears the alarm.i did remove the original air-box bracket from the car to get the box in but it's still not happnin with the hose :(

cheers for the advise on the cables, pity i cut them really but i just wanted the arms off the car and out of the way along with the diff ready for some beam action asap.

Thanks for that pic Dan, has helped me to work out what the hell I need to do with the bracket you sorted :)

My 2 airboxes both have the extra resonance chamber coming off them like Mick's. I know one is the original from the 328 donor, but the other one I have was supposed to be from an early 325 and it looks identical.

I think I have the same E34 inlet elbow as Mick

had time for another go at it this after and the beam is now out with more snags as expected.

the side plate bolts cam off easy enough,i've had to grind the heads off these on rotten turds in the past.then i thought the x2 main bolts were bent at first when they wouldn't budge so i had a look from inside the car and found the bolts escape routes blocked by a dollop of sealer :?

Image

after removing said blockage the bolts 'flew' out :D

then on to removing the beam that was still stuck fast ending in this  the worst case!

Image

Image

my car does nothing in half measures so i get both sides to fight with, great!

next question is what's the best way to remove the stubs ? i've got the large washers off and it's just the stubs left now.

on a brighter note i cracked open the Karcher and blasted all the crap out ready for under seal, wax oil and any future rust blockage i can see.

i have a full intact pair of these which is nice :D

rear arch ......

Image

i'll get the h/brake cables out next visit but advise on the removal of those bush stubs will be good for round 3 winkeye

had a couple of hours at it today and made some good progress :D

first job to get the rear bush stubs out, new drill and drill bits even winkeye

Image

Image

quickly followed by the rest.

Image

next up clean around all bracketery and any signs of split sealer of any signs of crust!

Image

Image

Image

Image

one intact filler neck bracket 8)

Image

Image

solid :D

Image

Image

Image

how much is a new one of these ? took a while to clean it up but it's still solid at least.

Image

Image

glad i caught this in time before the rot set in,this part is down from the filler flap and the stub is where the plastic cover fits to.

Image

Image

everything coat in rust remedy :)

Image

hope to have a full day at this tomorrow,Bring it CROUT!

had a few hours at it again today, seam sealed on top of all the rust remedy treatment spots. and sprayed the rear beam up in hammerite satin.

Image

Image

Image

and this arrived from capri_rob :D

Image

now this has prompted me to renew all the rear brake-lines which looked a bit ropey.

Image

this one from front to rear is being replaced as well while i can get to it easily

Image

i'd be very foolish not to take advantage while the beam is out ............cat's away winkeye

Image

and some goodies 8)

well once it's done it's done good i spose :D

indeed, that big dollop of sealer on top of the bolts means that those beam bushes are the originals! never been changed until you! I've broke an e30 like that before and had the same problem scratching my head about it!
