Hi
Just picked up an '87 325i, prob gonna need a full respray prior to modding.
Whats the likely cost of this, including proper prep, and treatment of minor rust ? I'll probably buy the new front bumper etc and get that sprayed at the same time.

really depends on what state the car is in from a rust point of view, whether you have any mtec kit on there that needs removing and spraying also. Depends on what sort of job you want doing too, i mean windows out job or a quick freshen up.
I would have thought a respray could range from between Ԛ£500 - Ԛ£3000+++++
I got a quote for mine recently for a full respray with the usual repairs to rusty wheel arches, sunroof etc etc and it was an eye watering Ԛ£2700. But the place where i took it for the quote is known for being both expensive but exceptional quality.
Needless to say I am not ploughing that amount of money into my rusty shit heap

I had my car painted by a guy in Harrogate. He had it for 3 weeks and spent most of that time on it and was done by himself and not by his YTS lad. The 1600 quid was very good value and although I know you get what you pay for I got a top job for that money.

make sure you look around their wokshop and see if they've got a spray booth and not just a dusty shed because you cant buff out dirt under the paint.
