Just come back from taking the family to Warwick Castle, which involved a spirited drive up the M40.
The car drove exceptionally well, pulling through the gears, overtaking swiftly etc.
After an hour the junction came to turn off, but as the car was coming to a stop, all the lights came on the dash & the engine cut out as though the car had stalled. Fired up straight away, but did the same thing again twice, by the time we got to our destination.
On the way home, again drove really well until the car had to slow down to a halt, same issue as above....

Another thing I noticed is the oil light flickers for a few seconds when starting up after the above issue...

I will be replacing the starter motor soon as it sometimes screeches on start up. (not sure if related to above problem)

Any ideas....?

Smells like lose earth wire on the block, sub-frame, alternator, battery area.

Screeching starter is normally no lubrication on the pinion shaft causing the pinion to stick/rust, whip it out, WD40, wire brush, small dab of grease.

Cheers, I should have access to a ramp tomorrow, so will be able to have a good poke around.
