So the car is back in the workshop, I pulled the engine on friday and fitted a new clutch masters stage 3 paddle clutch along with lightened flywheel. The sump was replaced with one i'd welded for the oil return from the turbo. (pics have been updated) I also found the little nipple pivot for the clutch fork to be missing, so this was replaced. engine is back in although i need new mounts. i'll finish the wiring today and strengthen the new inlet manifold as i'm worried it'll collapse when lifting off. Pics of this to follow.

She runs!! Roughly!! Having a slight problem with fan output as the fan doesnt seem to want to come on. Being dealt with though. glad to hear it fire up again. had a massive Holset HX50 gifted to me, will i use it on a bigger engine build?? time will tell, but it looks like it may be up for sale. is anyone aware of where i can get my hands on a 71 degree thermostat?

On the megasquirt I've lost the ground switching for the injectors. The car ran a couple of weeks ago but now it doesn't. I've checked the wiring and all is well, it's just that the ecu doesn't switch. I've got fuel pump, spark, tps and crank signal etc. Cranking rpm is set to 300 I'm seeing pulsewidths on tunerstudio but no actual switching of the injectors. Any help greatly appreciated.

it´s extremely implaussible that you have killed both of your injection drivers at the very same time.
It´s either wiring or you have fried something in your ecu.
If not that, then you are missing the 12v to the injectors.

Implausible, however thats whats been confirmed as having happened. Both have now been replaced and all is well (although i ran out of fuel).
I'm now looking to tidy the loom (as its been stripped for faultfinding), sort a couple of vacuum feeds, install my catch can which will return into the sump and were ready for mapping!

well, it runs, very well might i add. other than a stuck wastegate ( seeing 25psi on numerous occasions, without a hint of det) we had no problems when the car was out on its base map which came loaded from extra efi. car is mot'd and insured through a limited milage policy from adrian flux and will be taxed at the turn of the month. Then i'll take it to AVA turbo in glasgow for a (tidy up) session which will allow me tu put 500 miles or so on the clutch before a power map session. aiming to run 12-14psi. more pics to follow of the completed install.

as expected the head gasket went pop. So i've got a nice low comp auto engine with 100k on it which ive stripped ready for a rebuild. ARP head studs are on order and the block is due a hone. I'll get it painted too before sticking a gasket set on it and trying again. I'm gonna add an e36 328 radiator which will need a bit of chassis leg "fettling" but will remove the need for a remote expansion tank. I'm also adding a clio brake servo and stepping up to a 3" exhaust and possibly add an e36 rack and z4 gear shifter.

well a friend has got a 2.4 diesel crank that i can have i think ill get 130mm rods and 8.5-1 forged pistons and keep the rest of the engine the same it already pulls like a bloody train at 8-10 psi but i want it more reliable under boost

Ive been looking and there seems to be some good deals from OZ on ebay. ireland engineering do a decent stroker too. would you increase the bore to a 2.8? Mine ran well other than overheating, i reckon 24psi in a high comp might have caused that
when you did your head up did you go oversize with the valves?

no i think ill keep it to a 2.7 i dont really wanna take another 2mm out of a 2.5 ill get a 2ltr block and get it bored 84 mm so ill have a nice fresh block im bloody suprised a high comp motor even took 24 psi
no heads standard with new rocker arms new valve guides new turbo cat cam and welded water ways

it did only do about 400 miles with only the gasket going! I'm gonna weld my head too, did you get it machined easy enough?

yeah got a friend to weld it and I know guys in a engine shop too when you weld the head make sure you get loads of heat in it first like stick it in an oven other wise it will crack

Been speaking to Dale at Bailey Performance, who's gonna be tuning the bucket. As a result of our chat ive ordered a nice little weber alpha fuel pressure regulator and a set of ngk grade 7's, looks like my injectors will be getting swapped out for a set of Siemens 630cc's next year along with a better turbo, we'll see how it performs on the rollers tho! New plates have been fitted in prep for mondays mot and to avoid attracting attention from the traffic plod who've just moved their sty to our town.
. Gotta get insurance over the weekend. Then tomorrow it's repairs to the mondeo after taxing it. Fun and games!!!!

The b@stards shafted me with a £700 excess till I forked out £36 for some excess insurance that pays me back £250 should I claim. Took a weekend of hunting to get the price down. I was being quoted around £500, oh and £10k by one bunch of comics..

I now proudly have in my possession, a valid MOT certificate
. Now I just need a tax disc. Does anyone know if the post office still take certificates or do they check the MID???
