320i idles high & rough solved so far

out of nowhere today my 320i auto just started idling at 1500rpm and surging. the revs creep up to about 1600rpm and the surging starts can notice it while cruisng in gear at normally lower revs. any help will be much appreciated as i have just brought my first & dont know alot about them. thanks

First of all check the rubber intake hoses for splits or leaks. Particularly number 8 in the diagram.

thanks for the reply. just been to check them all. mint site on that link by the way could get lost in there for hours. all hoses were fine but the air box had come unclipped refitted properly and so far so good back to idling at 700rpm. thanks again and i'll see how we get on. cheers
