not received your PM fella, mailbox isn't full either, so don't know where that has gone.
I am not back in at work until Tuesday, if your mate wants someone to deal with his claim and claim the losses back from the other party's insurers then go to our website www.corries.co.uk , either a form can be completed and one of our advisors will call him back or there is a contact number on there 01904 663 740 to get him through to the new claims assessors. He won't be charged anything and if he sustained any injury they will claim him damages for the injury on top of the write off value of the vehicle.
If you have any specific questions in the meantime then don't hesitate to PM me or just post up in here if PM is being dodgy at the moment.
Cheers
Lee

your mate needs to decide what to do with the morsels on his car as there is a chance that could be Cat B salvage, meaning he won't get to keep it. However, by putting poverty spec stuff back onto the car, this will devalue it, but not to the value of the morsels he takes off it. Just don't let it look like he's upto anything dodgy such as hiding damage from previous accident etc, as that's what could be assumed by an engineer, no point getting estimates for the repairs as it is clearly a total loss.

what I mean mate is say for instance it has leather and he replaced it with cloth. It will drop the value slightly but not by the value of a decent set of leather which is worth Ԛ£300ish, so if he intends to get another E34 and put the goodies on then that's prob worth doing or if he plans on selling the morsels. But if he just wants to get as much as he can for the car from the insurers then leave as it is and just give it a wash and vacum before the geezer comes to inspect it.
www.parkers.co.uk should be able to give you a price, but older car valutions are no longer free, so may have to look it up in WHSmiths next time you're in

take copies of the bumph you have and give that to the inspector, but don't make a song and dance about it at the time as you will\just piss him off thinking you are telling him how to do his job.
For the sake of completeness, it is worth going to a bodyshop and just getting them to write something on company paper saying uneconomic to repair, that should trigger NU sending their engineer out.
If your mate is not injured and he is already dealing directly with the third party's insurers, then there is probably not a lot of point involving a solicitor. If that's the case just PM me or ask me on here for any advice/tips etc.

Ops!, there's a second page to this thread.
Now I can see the side view, then it's a cat B. Breaking only.
