I pulled off a bit quick today,Well as quick as you can in a 316i anyway lol.My problem is just after i did this i got a really bad knocking near the handbrake,I have just dropped the exhaust and took the access panels off and my propshaft is all loose at the centre bearing.
My question is how do i tackle this and what do i need to buy??.Does the shaft split to allow new centre bearing fitment etc??
prop shaft help

I would prefer not to have to pay out to have this fitted as im a bit strapped atm

Best to change the prop to gearbox rubber as well whilst you have it apart
Mark the two halves of your prop as mentioned, alignment is uber important!

i had this problem replaced centre bearing on prop but it turned out to be the donut between gearbox and prop shaft.i would aim at that before the centre bearing personally

Actually i'd second that, there is a lot of flex in the center bearing rubber, the donut is (should) be a solid piece of hard rubber, they break down over time, and they can break apart, allowing the prop to move around. Its an easier job than the bearing too!

I have stripped it all down and have the prop on the bench in bits,The centre bearing is totally knackered. Strangley tho the do-nut looks relativley new.
