Morgan's are/were fitted with a similar device,on a Morgan,the front suspension trunion's were lubricated with engine oil,from the sump,via a push pump gadget mounted alongside the clutch pedal.....

I knew about it, ive heard a few old boys having a laugh about the 1930's designed junk, oiling kingpins? Every 500 miles,you hit the pushbutton,the oil pressure gauge takes a nose-dive,but at least those damn kingpins have oil!
