My e21 track car is running an M42 but it's been fitted with a chip from Fritz bits. As a result it runs like a sack of 5hit andin order to rev out you have to back off from full throttle. Smells like it's massively over fueled too!

I'd rather run an OE chip and have an engine that runs properly than live with this but does anyone do a decent chip that gives any genuine gains?

What's your original BMW chip number? If it's 1 267 356 378, I can supply a chip that gives gains of 8-12bhp.

Will it be on the ECU? If so, I'll take a look tomorrow when I go to the workshop.

No, you will need to open up the ECU to find out, but this will be no use to you if you already have an aftermarket chip fitted. You could take a chance that it will work...

@ rix313, yes the chips generally give a 2-3mpg improvement in fuel consumption.

@ Hoobs, PM sent!

Chip paid for and another ECU bought.

Plan to do a back2back comparison although anything has to be better than the Fritz bits chip I currently run. My car accelerates better when you back off from full throttle!
