Ive had a few zoners ask if I can get their original shafts coated as they havnt got round to fitting them yet, this is not a problem but to cover the minimum charge I need to get at least 7 together at a cost of £8 each inc return post (recorded)

The more above 7 the cheaper it gets, for example 10 would cost £6.50 each, 15 would cost £5.40 each etc etc

Are E36 UJs any good? I've got a pair of them lying spare now - didn't need them to fit the rack to my i.S.

Nice one 8)
They need to be self locking nuts ideally, nylock are no good because its so close to the exhaust.

Ive been fitting helicoils and short head cap screws to neaten it up a bit

That's a very neat solution, I might look into that. How difficult is it to helicoil a hole? I've got a decent pillar drill so that bit will be simple and have looked up a few guides on the neb, it looks pretty straightforward but you never know with these things.

I'll still need nuts for the links to the very top and bottom (to the steering column and rack), I thought nylock nuts woud be no good due to their proximity to the exhaust, is there any reason why I shouldn't use some front top mount nuts? They are M8 and self locking, they are a collar nut but I can't see that making much difference? Number 2 below:

Any nut/bolt fasteners place will sell you some self locking M8 nuts, no need to abuse your credit card at the dealers :)

Helicoil is easy, you do need an insert tool, its best to thread lock them in also 8)

Are these splined shafts still available?

I'm assuming that they don't completely do away with the need for manifold customisation on M50 conversions.

Thanks

Yes you need 2 of them

You need:

1 x E34 UJ for the 'rack end'
1 x E34 UJ to be modified by Dan for the top
1 x E30 standard coupling to give to Dan to modify with the top E34 UJ

He will give you back the phosphate coated linkage and a custom top UJ (50% E34, 50% E30)
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

I really do hope I can get the latest order back and coated in time for Gaydon, I will post up and let you know. They are £60 a piece, unless the manufacturing price has gone up

Obviously, my linkages wont have any welding
still trying to sort mine out danthe

so just to clarify - far left is the top, this is the e30 top part, the bit that connects to the the steering column.
the second bit is e34, the splines on this fit the splines on the shaft.

the bottom section is completely an e34 unit? will an e36 unit go in its place?

Hi, yes I generally always have a few about. I cant supply the UJ's unless you want new from my local ECP, they are about £40 a piece IIRC
The UJ mod is £10 extra if you send me your E30 linkage and an E34 UJ
