Does anyone know of a larger single throttle body for the M42 that will fit or can be made to fit ? I will be running a stand alone engine management system and not using an airflow meter.
Also I have read that the injectors are unique to m42 / m44 and to fit larger will require some sort of adapter ?
Larger throttle body for M42 ?

Anything can be made to fit if you really want it to. Some one on here did to an enlarged version of the M42 body but can't remember who it was.
You can fit what ever injectors you like to the rail so long as the physical size of the injectors you get is the same as the standard ones. For example you don't want to end up with this:

I'm fitting Bosche cream top injectors to my project car and they have a flow rate of around 220cc IIRC. What to comes down to is controlling the fuel pressure. Most injectors' flow rates are specified at 3 to 3.5 bar fuel pressure. So in therory if you select an injector that flows the exact amount of fuel you need at that pressure you should be ok. What it comes down to is fine tuning custom set ups so you'll likely need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. To do this you need one of these adaptors in place of the standard FPR:

This allows you to run a remote adjustable FPR allowing you to fine tune your build. You also need to blank off the return on the rail and redo your pipe work as the fuel now returns through the FPR.
Visit www.injectortune.co.uk, he'll explain all thats required and be able to supply the injectors too.
What is it you're doing then that requires this

I'm still gathering info and parts for a powerful under 2L M42 engine for track, hillclimb, race use. So looking for ideas. Today I have bought a complete S52 engine so will use throttle bodies and pistons and the crank and rods from an M44 giving 1958cc. Due to MSA regs I have to use the original block ( E30) and be under 2L. I intend to use an engine management system like DTA, M tech, DTA, Emerald etc. I have used the car with a basicly standard engine for 2 years so next year I need more power.
318 is.
Thanks for the info rix313. Today I think I have got one localy but will know by end of week. I was in Westbury yesterday and if I had known I would have had yours. I called in at M-Tech who build thir own ECU and will map it.Do you know anything about them ?

Ahh bummer, well it's here if you want it
Do you a good price.
Yeah I know M-tech, I'm a reseller for them. They've had a shaky past but Matt seems to have built it up over the last 3 or so years and as you must've seen, has a pretty busy business going!
