How the hell did this digusting M3 make it as a BMW AUC ?

It seems a few of BMW E46 M3 Coupes are being sold by BMW Dealers that have been modified? 8O

I saw one a standard looking BMW AUC M3 which i drove a few weeks ago at my local BMW Dealer. It werent bad but it had a crash in the past and i could tell when i opened the bonnet and i am not even a technician/mechanic. The front had stone chips which i think is common with these and was commeasurate with the mileage.

Its the indicators. Rear lights dont look OE and a 2002 M3 will not have LED rear lights.

Obviously the dealer knows iits target audience. And by councilling the turd up it becomes even more attractive to the sort of vermin who aspire to these cars . Hardly suprising that it is SMG :(

Most BMW dealers wouldn't touch that - looks like it may have been slammed as well. The one I sold cars for were very thorough on AUC checks - totally standard so anything non original such as nasty car alarms and non approved tyres were removed.

However, that shower used to be Godfrey Hall whose standards of used car prep weren't the same as mine. I bought an 840Ci from that lot 8-9 years ago, and my local dealer (who I later worked for) spent £3000 in warranty putting everything right around a month later - siezed air con fan, holed condenser, non standard immobiliser, dying batteries (two on these), non working passenger seat tilt, broken front spring, slightly leaky front strut thanks to the broken spring. They had the car for a week - the front shocks alone were about £800. 8O

It might not be modded in the sense of the engine and drivetrain without further checks but what i was referring to was:
kidney grilles
those awful front headlamps
rear tailllamps you can spot a mile off they are not Genuine BMW OEM
tinted windows
It seems a few of the other dealers have examples with a mild modification such as kidney grille.

I remember in December 2008 BMW Hexagon of Highgate has about 3 CSLs for sale but one of them had modifications by Thorney.

It was just i expected BMW AUC cars to be completely standard.
How through are the checks in general by BMW Dealers with regards to BMW AUC?
Would be good to hear from someone who has alot of knowledge and experience in this area.
What is the likelihood of these AUC cars being crashed in the past?

PS
Btw thanks Andyboy......appreciated.
