Is it me or has anyone else noticed you need the reflexes of a F**in fighter pilot to put £40.00 of petrol in without going over to £40.01??!
I think this is a ploy by the supermarkets (this is the only place it seems to happen to me) because if you think about the thousands of pennies they take each day, they are sitting pretty.
I've stopped filling up at £39.99 or closest figure as a mark of my protest!

This is something i used to pride myself on, the ability to go flat out until the mid 90's then a couple of tweaks to hit the round number. I have also noticed lately that i can hardly ever do this anymore. even from .97 it can jump over to .01 or 2 with just one flinch!
I don't know why i put so much effort into this as i more often than not buy some fags or a drink etc aswell, meaning that my total bill is never a round number anyway!

£40 is just an example, it can be any amount. Try it.
I've only noticed this happening at the supermarkets - Tesco being the W**kers they are wouldn't surprise me at setting their pumps to be so sensitive. It's not as if they don't get most of our money anyway, the C**ts have to think of other devious ways.

moreso has anyone noticed that, even if you do stop on your denomination of choice (round number to make the transaction as quick and painless as possible) that the magic 1p appears after you've let go of the lever.
Happens a lot
Fact, because I do have the reactions of a fighter pilot

I have a theory; since petrol is over double, maybe triple the prices of the 90's, it takes a lot less time to pump that 1p of petrol making the pump seem more sensitive?
How much you guys being bummed for now anyway? It's getting painful here and we are only at £1.10 now

Rarely let mine go below half a tank, quarter of the tank is the lowest it ever gets...
Although when I put fuel in the missus cars I try my best to get on the mark but always seem to go over

Never under...

Definitely, I think depending on how quickly you let go of the lever, will determine how many pence it over calculates, with all that pressure & super fine incrementation..

so you'll never know the difference between and e30 with half a tank, and one running on vapours

I mainly use Shell or BP.
I fill up as fast as i can then slow down for the last 20p. The last 1p i use as little force as i can so it just goes over.
