Should sound ok, but not too stealthy!! Lol!!
I take it your touring didn't have speaker grilles there already? Or are you going to mount those from underneath??
@King - try asking on the talkaudio forum - someone may have a set lying around!! I had a very similar looking sony amp with those connectors - way back!!!!!

They are too big to mount from underneath Blobi, and I like the look of the drivers too! Just needs a bit more refinement I reckon and it will look good. Sound will improve once I find some crossovers and amp the lot up. Ditched the 10 incher in favour of this 12 as it goes deeper(sounding like a rampant rabbit sales add!!) more punch to it. In process of fitting rear headrests as well so its coming along nicely..... so far.

what do you call proper components ?hongkongfuey wrote:really? well ive just done mine and doesnt need onechu346 wrote:hongkongfuey wrote:with proper components you dont need a sub
so jog on
it doesnt matter if you listen to dr dre, hanson or tom jones, a sub will compliment any audio system. even if its just a small 8" tube.

Would the wood and speaker have fitted under the trim??kingludba wrote:Two days off work so had a play today, not finished but fitted to test run....vibe components minus tweeters for the time being.
Next on to do list is get some tweeters(anyone got sum here ?) trim the baffle board upholster with suede or something out of the norm, fit sony 4 channel amp and wire all speakers up!
but first, fitting a newish rear silencer/ box as its drowning out my music!!
Cheers

I'm sure they would. May need to be a slight angle but that shouldn't be a problem, it would all be hidden by the speaker grill

I see what you are saying, will try it out and post pics, its just that the factory grills are in sh1te condition, might have to troll ebay and the zone for a decent pair.Sanchez wrote:schnaarf wrote:Would the wood and speaker have fitted under the trim??kingludba wrote:Two days off work so had a play today, not finished but fitted to test run....vibe components minus tweeters for the time being.

No worries!!
Tourings in for an MOT and a few other bits this week, then a week at work, then I'll build my new sub enclosure (hopefully!!).
Been throwing a couple of ideas around on the talkaudio forum and getting some advice from there, but still not decided if i'm gonna do a sealed box, or a really complex ported box!!
Watch this space!!

What is the difference between a normal or basic ported box to a complex jobbie? Is it all about frequencies etc or loudness??? My 12 is in a sealed standard box, so sounds okay, could be better considering the fact that its a 4ohm dual voice coil, cant remember the rms but its not on the shy side. It too probably needs a custom box to perform to its best ability. Will wait and see what you have up your sleeve!!

A complex jobbie for this one, is basically me not knowing enough about ported enclosure tuning (yet!) and building an L shaped slot port into a stupid shaped box!!!! Lol!!
The port tuning basically (i think) affects the frequency response and therefore the output at certain frequencies!! It can also affect how much power the driver can handle as well!!
Still learning here though!
I'm finding in general that a lot of subs like a box a bit bigger than the manufacturers suggest - can help them drop lower - but that could just be my taste!!
You can get the impression of a slightly larger box by putting a bit of wadding behind your sub (inside the enclosure!).
I'm definately going to build this ported special though, just to see if my idea works as much as anything!!!
