:( well the penis who sold me my car was indeed a penis, or maybe i am for buying it, i have filled it up to 3/4 and no problem, i filled it up today to top and well its like a waterfall under the car, i assume the tank comes in two parts and its split somewhere, worse thing is i cant do anything about it, all i have is a tiny screwdriver cos the gf has hidden the garage keys in a place i cant find and shes still at ******* work and wont answer the phone :(

well i got the covers off under the seat and no leaks there, no leaks on fuel pump looks like it comes from rear of tank towards back of car, so new tank? my car is indeed a turd

i dunno what to do about leaking fuel on my drive except wash it down with water...........

cant even syphon fuel out cos everythings in the garage arrrrgggghhhhhh

More than likely the filler pipe has rusted. Just slosh down the fuel on your drive with strong detergent and loads of water.

In future don't overfill the tank until you have sorted it out but that's just stating the obvious.

Just make sure you buy the correct tank going by capacity of the tank, not the model of your car

If it's any consolation, if I put more than a tenners worth in the tank and go up a steep hill, half of it pisses out again.

Less of an issue for me though as the car runs on LPG and I only need the petrol to get it started.

a little consolation lol as i can put 30/40 quid in, its just i dont like driving it with fuel weeing out, i had the gas man come out yesterday eve, a neighbour thought there was a gas leak and rang the emegencey number, i was like no its just the turd sat on the drive leaking fuel, so i had to spend half hour with this bloke noseing round my gas meter checking its safe. its stopped weeing now with 3/4 a tank

The tanks rust badly on these cars especially near the filler stub and the rear seam. Mine did the same so I got the replacement powder coated. It might be worth getting the garage to replace the rear subframe bushes at the same time, and check your rear brake pipes.

TBH mate, as long as it has no rust you may as well save your pennies and buy used. Any rust will be external and easy to see with the tank removed from the car. I bought a used tank from a zoner (I had exactly the same symptoms as you) and it's been fine ever since.
