hi people. I've a m50b25 in my e30 ,it's cool but I want more so I'm planning to make a turbo conversion... but yesterday I´ve "found" a M52B28 engine and my question is if It's better and easier to use only the crankshaft and connecting rods from the m52 and put them into the m50 with forged pistons, or the entire block and that pistons too? I want a 2.8L turbo !! 8)

if you want to do a 24v 2.8 turbo your best bet in my opinion would be to use the crank ect in the iron block of the m50 and the loom from the m52. strength wise its the best bet......

as far as naturaly aspirated power is concerned the m52 is far far better than the m50 and the engine management is light years ahead of the m50.....
ive had an m50 engine in my e30 and it lasted 5000 miles before i ripped it out and replaced with an m52 lump...... the difference is brilliant and my next move is a set of cams, remap, big bore throttle body and under drive pulleys.... but even as it is with the single mass flywheel and m50 inlet its very livable for now :D
A 2 door e30 with 8 cylinders, what could be better winkeye :D

that's exactly what I thought ,the iron block is better for what I'm planning to do...the camshaft it's the same between m50b25 and m52b28?

cheers

finally I've a T3/T04 to put in the engine... I've the M50B25 and the M52B28, and I didn't decided yet if I'll put the crankshaft and connecting rods from 2.8 to the 2.5 to stroke it, or if I'll use the M52B28 engine (both with forged pistons of course)... because my 2.8 block it's aluminium made and the 2.5 block it's iron made...
I'll use a VEMS too,550cc inj. , and I want a good result 8)

"the camshaft it's the same between m50b25 and m52b28?"

That's a question I'd be really interested to hear the answer to.
In terms of Single VANOS, what are the respective profiles, and are they physically interchangeable?

I think the camshaft it's the same... but I want to be sure about that too! first I'm planning everything, I hadn't even the m52B28 but I'll confirm every details... I'm sure I'll use only the 2.8 crankshaft and connecting rods on the m50 block, so I'll stroke it and I think that'll be the easier way...

Im sure ive checked the cams out in the past, I cant remember any differences so im assuming they are not worthy differences. The only noticeable difference is the M52 cams have more of a balance weight arrangement like a crankshaft does

ok, so you're meaning that if I'll use the m52 camshaft I'll take more performance ,because it's lighter that the m50's , 'right? :)
