i called in to see the car last friday.MIKAM3 wrote:What's news here ?
i was pleased with the recent progress.
i'm estimating it will be the end of this week to finish the welding/renovation,
then around 2 weeks to do the colour change.
after seeing how my old s62 car did on ebay last week though,
its got me thinking about what this one would sell for?.
i'd be tempted to let it go if it made decent money.
if it went, my next project would probably be an e46 m3 v10.
i've spoken to my ecu guy this week, and he's confident we could use the 7 speed smg sequential gearbox, using the smg system on the e46.

dont get me going ! lolturk wrote:Cmon Glenn, Get some pix up!!! Serious dry spell going on here
Any progress???
i called in there last friday, expecting to see the welding/renovations finished
but they were all tidying up etc......as they were shutting down for two weeks,
i've been effing tamping all week !
if i'd known they were going to close for two weeks, i'd have brought the car home and finished the prepping myself
looking back now, it was a mistake to let someone else do the welding, i should have done it myself. you live and learn!
i really wanted to get this finished and usable by the summer, but by the time i get the car back, the nights will be drawing in, and we'll be rapidly heading into the winter.
Oh christ... with winter nights coming, the engine will probably be ripped out again to make room for another go at it and do something mad with it!
Keep the V10 E30 though... E46 V10 is nice but there will be too many of them around soon. Discussing about one thats planned over here even today.

Non M3 struts.turk wrote:are those 4 lug wheels I spot there? How did u get them to fit
Glen, on another note, why hasn't the main chassis harness/battery cable and headlining been removed? Its not like it would add any more time!
Just seems like a shame with all of the over spray.

yes, they were just 325 legs i had here when i took the car up to the bodyshop, as i didn't want to risk any overspray on the coilovers.Demlotcrew wrote:Non M3 struts.turk wrote:are those 4 lug wheels I spot there? How did u get them to fit

and i noticed that too andrew.
i have to go there tomorrow after work to collect a load of stuff in boxes, and i'll be making sure that's removed before spraying.
i cant wait to get it back home now, as i want to get cracking on with it.

Lovely area of Mansfield that
i thought it was a nice area, while i was sat there waiting for it to open
saying that though, i dealt with the owner of shirebrook, and found him to be spot-on
So some slight progress then Glenn, how's the prep'n'paint? You must be itching to get cracking on with it in the cold dark nights- bring on the snow

after having a chat with a good friend of his (bodyshop owner)today, i think i'll be going up there later this week, and start making noises about pulling it out of there shortly.
i've had enough now

Glenn, do you know of any other S85s? Ive been looking at picking up complete cars to rip one from but every potential donor I find is in the "complete Taxed and Tested running straight car" territory. My best friend is a fabricator, so mounts/exhausts etc isnt a problem its just finding a lump, wiring and box is a pain in the arse!
Well be sure to update us all when you've had enough and start to do it yourself againglenn wrote:well, to be honest chris, i'm starting to get p1$$ed off with the bodyshop now.suchy wrote:So some slight progress then Glenn, how's the prep'n'paint? i called into the bodyshop on my way home from work,
and was greeted with a pleasant suprise...................

over the last few months, i had toyed with painting it dolphin grey, but i'm glad i stuck with imola red now.
the flash from the camera has made it look lighter than it actually is.
when i walked in and first seen it for the first time, it looked quite dark.....proper imola red
i'll either pick it up after work tomorrow, or saturday morning, and then i can start bolting it all back together and have a good week or so over christmas on it
