We all know they are shit as from the factory, someone mentioned the other day that on the later models with the airbags, the panel under the steering wheel was much better. Is this still something you can get hold of, and if so will it fit any e30 (mine happens to be a '91 motorsport) and how much will it cost?

thanks

If you mean the trim that sits above the pedals, I believe these are still available from your local dealer at about Ԛ£40+ VAT, but dont forget to buy the clips and fixings that go with it.

a ha that sounds interesting. Can you let me know where you got it from, I presume it was a private sale? Do they also have the OBC gong bracket aswell as I need that as part of it.

Thanks

I've bought 2 new ones recently, they're crap due to being pulled off constantly, and not put back together, they end up sagging getting caught under feet and then ripped out in a temper.

Get a new one and fit it properly and it won't give you any trouble.

I paid Ԛ£34 for a new one, just make sure you get the correct one, otherwise you will end up having to cut bits out, or have holes in it.

I know nothing of different panels for ABS cars though.

That's how my car was crashed when it went for the MOT. The guy got his foot caught under it and the car shoot forward and smacked into the ramp. Yep you can buy them for about Ԛ£35 as Somon says from your local dealers

I've not taken delivery of it yet mate, it's part of a job-lot garage clearance so I have not inspected it properly and don't know what clips and other stuff are with it mate. I have seen it briefly but not examined it, but it looked unmarked

Judging by the price of a new one it maybe is worth just buying new from the stealers. I will be getting mine in a week or so. PM me if you are still interested. Ԛ£20 + Posting.

Mine's still in the boot, it was sagging down when I did a quick gear change and ended up snapping all the fixings :x

The one in my 325 has been missing since I bought the car, due to it being *ucked and pissing off the previous owner too much...the OBC gong is missing, too (thank god) as is the headlamp adjuster dod-dahs...

The M3 one is hanging in there....I've re-made the ends where it fits into the metal spring clips and punched 2 small holes through which I have put a wire-tie...This holds it securely to a slightly modified (bent) metal bracket....Works perfectly like that and just cannot fall down unless it physically breaks in two!

Lol Jimbob, I assume the snapping of the panel was due to your feet flailing around rather than the force of acceleration from your chariot :D

Um, i dont see the big prob with these things, lol

Mines never given me any trouble, and i have taken it out and put it back in again when i was wiring in my sub etc.

As long as you make sure it goes in the clip right at the bottom in the middle then it shouldnt fall down at all.

Yea when I released the clutch I must've hit the panel with enough force to snap the fixings, doh :|
