As per the title really. In Halfords looking at some new speakers to replace the standard ones in my cab.
Alpine SXE-1325S any good at £27? 13cm 35W.
I have a Panasonic head unit with no external amplification.

Back behind an M20, but now I can hear it better.
13cm but on the rears be careful about depth - I had some Infinity Kappas which were just too tight for the rear and touched the covers on the front. Some people here have recommended Hertz.
Something around 53mm should be fine - the Kappas were around 58mm I think.
Not sure about the depth on the fronts - they're the same size but some have the secondary tweeter.
Interested to follow the thread if others have suggestions. I'll be buying a full set front and back when I get my cabby back later this summer.

So having a quick check up on the hertz speakers they look rather lovely but given the grief I had fitting the infinity speakers I checked up on the mounting depth. Mounting depth on the infinitys was 55.5mm unfortunately the Hertz speakers are 56mm so I won't be getting a set of those.
Looking at Pioneers - they have a much lower mounting depth - around 52-53mm so I'm hoping a much easier fit but are there any recommendations from that range? TS-A1313i for the rears and TS-A131Ci for the fronts maybe?
Similarly after something that doesn't need an amplifier although ... given that I'm replacing the dashboard at some point there might be an opportunity to install something discrete along the way (although relatively pointless I guess unless the speakers are going to be mounted in something a bit more solid than the standard panels).

Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to check mounting depth before buying.
Apologies for posting this in the wrong section btw - did it on my iPhone whilst in-store and forgot to changeq the forum. Mods - feel free to move it if necessary.

Those are exactly the ones I was looking at. Are they any good?

Thanks Sajid / Buffalino. I'll check out the link.
Sajid - would agree that 6x9s would sound better than 5.25" speakers any day of the week but unfortunately this is for a cabby - no shelf.
Unless ... has anyone ever put speakers in the horseshoe lid? (that doesn't sound like a good idea btw)

Im following this im lookin to put alpine setup in my cab so am interested in the outcome
The preacher is pious lord, for he is scared of hell, where as me I sinned freely trusting in your mercy
I've got the 1325's in the rear of my cab but went for the 1350's in the front, these are the 2 way with separate tweeter than can be mounted to the mirror back plate, they sound pretty good with an Alpine headunit, but sounded fantastic when I added the Alpine KTP 455 in line amp.
The KTP 455 is so small it fits behind the head unit, you would never know it was there and it's plug and play.

The Alpine frequency response range is less than other speakers I've seen - the 1325s only going from 70hz and the 1350s from 60hz. In a cab with the amount of additional noise that you get from elsewhere is there going to be a noticeable difference between these and say a set of pioneers that would go much lower? I guess that the best mounting point will be the fronts - there's so much space around the speaker in the rear mounts that I can't imagine they'd be great mounting points to get any real bass out of. I'm not going to go for any kind of tube / box set up so want to try to get the best sound from the standard points (do have the tweeter mounts on mine so will go component in the front).
I've also thought about getting a small amplifier to add a bit of depth to the sound when I get round to fitting mine.
Was after something not too large - as above - don't want to do anything that requires putting stuff in the boot really.
Anyone got any recommendations for a decent 4 channel amp that could fit somewhere discrete?
