Not a very important post but the wife doesnt appreciate the finer details.

Got my m20 flywheel lightened today at an engineering firm for the princely sum of £20

Made my day

£20? Sounds like a bargain, what'd you get it lightened to? Hope mine's that cheap when I ask my local to skim it!
Also take every opportunity to make your wife appreciate it, for example leave it on the table before dinner time and when she moves it, which she will inevitably do - make sure to comment how much lighter it is then before and that she should be appreciative of how considerate you were to have it done

No kev she didnt feign anything mate just the usual blank look :)

And green that is an excellent idea mate lol but i may go too far and she might want the hoover lightening then :D

Not sure of the exact weight yet as i've not weighed it but he's took the full step off the back and from the majority of lfw posts i've seen its usually around 6kg

I might be wrong, but is that correct way to lighten the Flywheel. I've lightened acouple of Flywheels & removed Material from the inner profile too :?

I did quite a lot of looking round before i had it done and all the flywheels i had seen for the m20 were just skimmed from the back

Yeah agree that the Material is only removed from the back face, but you should also remove material from the inner profile (Open the groove up & adjust the angles) :)
