clarification on brown temp sender m52 loom

Hi all, just looking at my wiring and after having searched the forum i'm still a little confused.
firstly, do i need to put a brown temp sensor onto my engine?
secondly on the m52 loom how to i wire this in as i don't seem to have a plug for it?
any help appreciated

I was wndering this myself a few days ago. I know you need the brown temp sensor to send a signal to the e30 clocks, if your doing your own wiring i think you need to run a wire upto the c101 and then onto the temp gauge

The reason you dont hsve a plug is the m52 has a dual output sensor with 4wires. 2 to ecu 2 to temp gauge ( i think )

ah that was what i was hoping for, i'll have to get another plug from somewhere for the end of the sensor. if you could find the colours for me that'd be very much appreciated.
I'm starting to unravel the wiring bit by bit, one of the main things thats concerning me at the moment is the fact that my c101 plug seems to have totally different colours to the ones in the wiring diagram on the front page.

Also, i saw a photo on one of the other posts of someone using an e30 blue and brown temp sensor? i thought that i was supposed to add a brown temp sensor and keep the original e36 one aswell? what has every one else done?

hello kev,
use the brown e30 sensor, then take the brown / violet wire from the 4 pin e36 plug, and put that to the brown e30 sensor.
i have one here if you need it

nice one cheers mister, had a bit of bad luck just now too which has delayed me somewhat, the engine stand toppled over and damaged the side of the head. a bit annoying although fingers crossed it's repairable
