what's the best option for the exhaust if i go down the M30 3.5 route? i have a M20 2.5 scorpion jobbie at the moment but i suspect it's not going to be big enough bore for the M30, even if i mate the downpipes to the system?

is the M3 one good?

i may be playing 3.5-supercharged at some point afterwards so bigger is probably better!

ideally, a custom one is best avoided due to cost!

You should be Ok to start off with the 325 scorpion but i'd be looking for some thing bigger when you bolt a S/C on there.

I have a scorpion M3 exhaust at the mo but it's a little bit to loud for me, i want to change it but i don't have the dosh :(

Im sure you can find a decent 2nd hand M3 exhaust from somewhere.

It would sound nice with a 6 pot rumbling through it!

My idea is to get the first box from e32/e34 - it's a small straight thru box and then only the backbox. Should be ok, I dunno if it's legal in UK, here in Latvia there should be no probs. The pipes can also be taken from e32/e34 and modified a bit.

I'll take a look at the stock pipes for m30 for the diameter.

i suspect the scorpion is the same or very similar to the standard one as the downpipe to system crush gasket and olive are standard (i just rep-laced mine)

i've got straight through pipes to a single e36 328i backbox

the only legal requirement is no leaks for the mot test. it isn't even very loud.

i made my system from old m30 downpipe off cuts, the whole system is the same bore as the downpipes

Here in latvia to gen the car mot'ed the exhaust may not be louder than 90db which is very quiet. On my vw jetta i can get mot only with first two boxes and custom (Ractive) backbox. If i take out one of the first two boxes i cant' get mot. Here in latvia there is a big mess with the mot - very strict rules, like german TUV only the officers are dumber and sometimes you can't get mot even if the parts are TUV approved - like wheel spacers - in germany they are allowed but here they're 4bidden :cursin:

You want about a 50 mm bore tube, twin pipes obviously !

The loudness of Toby's exhaust is what i want 8)

Gwynley, could be a posibility, i paid 250(they are about 500 new ?) plus P+P so make me an offer ?
