Won't Fire Up!!

Spent the best part of an hour today trying to start my Car for the first time. It's turning over, just won't fire up
Has anyone had similar problems & able to point me in the right direction
Not sure if maybe got the Fuel Pipes the right way round, where does the small pipe from the Fuel rail locate too?

Any help would be appreciated, nearly there

bit of a where to start one really, have you got all the wiring in there etc? is this the first time start up or did it stop working one day?
easiest thing if you suspect fuel hoses is to switch them round.

is your pump actually running?

the small air vacuum hose from the fuel rail goes to under the throttle body i believe. is this plumbed in? this is connected to the fuel pressure regulator.

Fuel lines is the first place i would start with,i among a few others have put them on the wrong way.Cant remember which one is which but swap em over and see how it goes

This is the first time i've attempted to start it. Sure the Pump is working as getting fuel through to the Engine, didn't have the small vacuum connected, could this be a factor??

Same as me it was the first time i went to turn it over.I was gutted then realised what id done and beams from ear to ear when it fired into life

Wouldnt have thought the vacum pipe would completely stop it from firing just make it run like a sack of sht

The vacuum pipe reduces the fuel pressure, if its not connected you will have max pressure so you can rule that out.

Is the EWS module clicking with ignition on and key in the antennae?

It's the M52 Engine

The Key that i got with the Car is an all metal type (spare i think), so there's no place for me to put the key from the M52
Has anybody else got around this problem?
Will have to order a replacement key from John Clarks with the plastic!!

Tried swapping the Fuel Pipes over today, but still not firing up!!
Checked for a Spark from the Plugs but not getting any spark, anybody got any idea's or similar problems?
this is starting to piss me off now

Have you installed the ews? Do you have the chipped key? If not the ecu is not getting the signal to de~immobilise and it'll never start. If you havent got the matching key/ecu you will have to buy a matching set of have the ecu ews deleted

The EWS is plugged in with the ECU, the only thing being is the Car Key is the all metal type so have nowhere to install the Chip so have taped this to the Antenna Ring...(assuming i'm doing the right thing...took the Key apart removed the Chip & taped it to the Antenna Ring )

Thinking that maybe the Crank Sensor Connection is goosed, will try giving it a clean with contact cleaner & giving it another go!!

Oh i see. So you have the matching chip-ecu so chances are its not that then. I know it can be a pain in thecarse mate but these things are just a process of elimination and persistancec pays off.
Perhaps if you suspect the crank sensor check the voltage ratings. Borrow another or buy new ?

Yeah will give the Crank Sensor a clean tomorrow to see if that's gonna work, if not will borrow one from another BM!!

Not much to clean on the crank sensor as they are plastic coated, if the EWS module clicks when you turn the ignition on you know it has recognised the key chip, so you can eliminate that from your list
If it doesnt, take the chip away from the antennae, and leave the ignition off for about 20 seconds, then turn ignition on, then place the chip near the antennae and you should hear the module click as it recognises the chip

Cheers Dan, was gonna give the Crank Sensor Connector a clean just to see it it makes any difference
The more i think bout it, think the Chip may be the problem as haven't paid much attention if the EWS clicks when turning key
So just to clear things up, when i turn the key to position 1, you here the Fuel Pump prime, then when i turn to position 2 the Engine turns over but doesn't spark at the Plugs...this is where the EWS/Chip stops the Engine Sparking....Correct

Happy days, EWS was the problem...put it to position 1 on the ignition barrel let the fuel pump prime then put the Chipped key through the Antenna, then turned the key to position 2 & the Car fired into life.....RESULT
Does the thin Black Vacuum Hose from the Fuel rail attach to the outlet under the M50 Inlet Manifold, just tidying up the lat of the Hoses
