If you think that's cheap. Back in 2008 i was offered a 9mth old 540i for £3500, owner didn't like it and was buying a Range Rover Overfinch, yes he is minted and never owns a car over a year. I was at the pub and he offered me his car for £3500, wish i had taken him up on it, could have made a bit of money there.

So you even got to test drive this mythical '540' and you still didn't buy it ?
Let me guess, it lacked the handling balance of your alloy panelled 924 !

In 2008, a 9 month old 540i (they did make one!) would have been a 2007 model E60. New list price £42'990, trade in value in 2008 £30'000.
And you didn't buy it for £3500. So you're either
a) Full of shit
b) Stupid
c) Both

it is not that cheap really, I had an offer for 1999 540i but auto, the condition wise was OK, it would love respray but did I not see rust ,with same kind of mileage for £2000 and would accept a lower offer, but insurance would be mental and then petrol prices. second hand car prices now are low on the big engine cars I'd say, watched Top Gear yesterday and I think I rather save for that 850Ci ! I know it's not the fastest and not a most practical either, but I really like them.

Saw the Reg Doc, doubt it was a private place, suppose it could have been, i was checking it was a 540, not the age. Car was totally mint and i have known the guy for about 10 years.
Got rid of his Overfinch after about 8months, can't remember what he got after that, i think it was an E class AMG.

You saw the paper work, you test drove it from Swindon to Bristol and you still didn't buy it
Was it the colour that put you off ? or was it too big to fit in your 'barn' ?

Minted people don't give away £30000 assets for £3500. That's why they're minted.
Unbelievable. Literally.

In 2009 he replaces it with a Merc AMG.....but you 'can't remember'. This Guy you've known for 10 years.
