got a photo, just can't upload it, lol, its on my phone and don't have a cable. lol.

Good news on the brake fitment may have to add the WMS kit to my list along with the Eibach ARB kits and fr/rr strut braces, then do the brake conversion. Was going to change over to ATE blue brake fluid, put his off until a brake conversion, then i will really notice the difference.

If you are there on sun and likely to need a hand let me know in advance, i used to rally and be part of Cozens Racing (stock Hatch and Autoitalia) and can offer an extra pair of hands.
Very decent offer thanks, but the most likely bet is just driving it down on race morning and racing it like it is - fkn slow and lop sided - as I'm losing patience with it now. The main reason I'm so pi55ed off, time is really difficult so I booked the dyno time well in advance (couple of weeks ago) and took time out to drop the car down and leave it there planning to pick it up all sorted on Thurs morning, but the guy who has the ignition mapping software was on holiday and I can't take any more time out to get it done when he is back. Why book the car in when you can do fk all with it? Ah well. The timetable may well change, as both series were originally supposed to race on Sat. I'm #23 TTRS.

Cheers
Brian

Sorry you felt that way Brian, you have a pm about this, but as you've sort of aired it, I thought I should give my side and all that, hopefully this will make things clearer?

I didn't realise the chap with the emulator was on his hols last week, that was unfortunate as he did know your car was going to be with me last week. So, we were both let down there. However, I wanted to fit the Unichip with a TPS for 0-5v signal for it to see load and map it live so you have a proper 3D ignition map. This isn't cheap as you know and when you popped in the week before you didn't seem keen on spending a great deal of money on it and wanted to go the Eprom route. But I didn't think that was the best way to go, as I doubted the idle map would go to 7500 rpm.

Your car was MEGGA lean! and although the jets were changed for bigger, it was still too lean for my liking. Even with the ignition timing sorted, I would still be very concerned about the fueling. I wasn't happy running it anymore on the dyno unless we did something with the needles to get the fueling better at higher RPM.

Even though the jets were changed, as I tried explaining to you the main problem was the needle profile. The car was very rich low down, but really lean up top. changing the height of the needle would sort the fueling in one area, but completely bugger it for the other area. Same too with the jets. You need a needle which is thicker at the top of the needle and is thinner at the bottom of the needle. You can spend hours modifying the needles to suit. Remember, you have 4 of them, you need to modify them a tiny bit at a time and make sure you modify them all the same. This takes alot of time. As long as there is no det, I always sort fueling out before ignition timing.

As you also saw, we gained alot from the jet change and bugger all from playing with the AFM and TPS wiring to fool the ECU into thinking we were at full throttle so giving full throttle ignition map. So, playing about with that took time also, and thanks to Mickey bridging wires as per my instruction, we learnt alot about what worked and what didn't on the dyno. It was a shame we didn't have access to the emulator as we could have seen the ignition timing live, being a distributorless and coil on plug system, we don't have the equipment to check ignition timing. I did try though...

As you know I dislocated my shoulder before you came also, I was not supposed to be in work atall and am still supposed to be off for the next 2 weeks atleast. Because you needed your car on Thursday and I couldn't come in before then, I made an effort especially to come in to help with your car. I didn't have to do it, but it was my choice to come in seeing as it was you. Also because we've had problems with the dyno over the past year or so, with one thing and another it has meant we have not been able to get your car on the dyno in the past, so this was another reason I made the effort to come in. But, even if I knew we couldn't get hold of the emulator for the eprom, I couldn't have fitted the Unichip anyway because of my injury.

Unfortunately, jobs which come in and work needs to be done on a tight budget like yours where costs need to be kept low, 9 times out of 10 it can end up costing alot more in the long run. To sort your car out properly and to the extent I'd like to sort it out, it is going to take time and money, but I guarentee you the results won't be better any other way.

I'm here to help anyone, but unfortunately situations can occur beyond anyones control and can happen to anyone.

So, sorry again if you felt the dyno time spent was a waste of money/time, and you feel you were messed about, but I beg to differ and I hope I've explained above. You have my number, I am happy to talk about it at your convienience.

Paul.

PM'd Paul, I will call in. I should never be allowed to sit near a keyboard when I need to let off steam :cheese: as this wasn't the right place. To anybody who hasn't used this dyno, have been there several times before this and only had good experiences :thumb:

Brian,
Ref your problem with the Ledas:
In case you're not aware, GAZ offer a rebuild service on Ledas - in my experience very quick turnaround and not expensive. They did the fronts on my sons 205 and they will be doing all 4 on the E30 when money permits.

Brian,

If it helps, I am happy to lend you my Bilstein/Eibach gear to get you out and racing - assuming my cabby stuff is suitable for your car.

I have no clue how to remove it, but I am only 6 miles from Combe if you wanted to swing by and remove bits.

Martin.
