Can you simply bore out the 2.5 to a 2.7? Its the 8valve engine out a 325i

Ive just had to take my engine appart to have a look at it because a suspected cam belt jumped. So all the valves are bent and the pistions could be damaged. Just thought get a Plan D if i put it back together and the rings have gone.

In theory you can, but you'd need custom pistons (Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£), and you wouldnt get the same output (torque especially) as a traditional 2.7 using an eta or 324 diesel crank. This is because the increased crank throw gives more leverage = more torque
Ps - think you mean 12 valve! do the maths!

torque/output would be practically same as a stroked 2.7

you can get the pistons you would need from the States as part of a 3.0 kit available for the m20

They arent bad but not great.

Someone in the UK had the 3.0 kit and hads it all built. They then went to bexleys and had a MAF conversion done. Bexleys were expecting 220+ bhp and hge torque and they were very interested in the conversion.

Figures cam back as around 210 bhp but 213 lb.ft torque.

Thats similar to what Karans engine does and what the Alpina C2 does and they are only 2.7.
