Are these up at Northhampton?
Who organised the day?
Pics 1,2 and 4 are all awesome. the jap crap in pic 1 seems to have a bit more angle on him though. Was it a competition?
Car look quite flat, what suspension you running nick?

More angle coz he's not exiting the corner like me ;)
It's a bit wobbly but the suspension is okay. Not sure what he's running but it's nothing special. The drift day was run by Drift UK. Oh, and as for the engine he's running....I think it's secret. It's less than 2.5L and is N/A and a four pot...that's all I can say ;)

I've just learnt the hard way how important suspension can be!!!
So was that one of the Northhampton drituk days? I went to watch one a few months ago and it looked pretty cool. as soon as I'm slip diff'd up and got some kind of rigidity going on I'm so going back!
Quite cheap I think too isn't it? Something like 65 for the day?

Slip diff? Nah, just weld an open diff

I'd love an LSD but they're too expensive. Will be a MiG diff for me

I bought a donor car and wanted to do this. Have you actually done it?
I spoke to a few people and they said I'd be lucky to get a single day of tarmac use out of it before either the diff internals or CV joints go.

those people should shut the fuck up, ive ran a welded diff in that car since may, with no problems. and i know people who have ran them for even longer with no problems, that is my only car and is my daily driver so its perfectly usable. and it shits all over the crap bmw LSD's and is a lot cheaper to.
suspension is some shiny red lowering springs, some avo dampers, some broken rear top mounts. and a zmcoupe backplate on the diff.
and yes mr driftybolox it is indeed a bit of a secret what engine itl have. (knowing me it'l probably turn out shite haha)

mig can be used, but mine is arc welded. and someone i know who welds the diffs for hotrods/stock car/banger racing says arc is better because mig can twist.
a friend of mine welded it for me, hes up birmingham way he would definately do it for you, buit i see your located a bit far away. but he does them properly disasembles the diff cleans it up welds it, re-assembles it. much better than the usual pikey way of getting the car up on a ramp, taking backplate off mig'ing it and putting it back together.

I still may be interested because I'm from Shrewsbury and that's where my donor diff is and where'd i'd be going to swap them over. (shrewsbury's only an hour away from brum)

Hi there,
I will be offering a diff welding service shortly. I'm not doing the work myself but being in motorsport heaven, near Silverstone I have all the contacts. If you can bring a diff to me I can have it done within a few days and you can be rest assured it will be a very good job.
I've run welded diff's in all sorts of cars and have never had one break.
Cheers
James
