tech 2s arnt worth more ? each car is valued on its own mertits, rust, milage, condition, spec, paint work, etc etc etc- which due to age, happens there are a lot more nicer tech 2s out there than tech 1s

plus the tech 1 often doesnt have pas, often need some body work etc, which lowers value accordingly

if there was 1 of each fsh same owners,imale,color,paint/shell condition , same spec, same cloth nice interiors, the tech 1 would be worth more surely ?

but i dearly hope prices dont command/appriciate as much , as i want a tech 1 :D

basicly...ireland is 15 years behind, in 10/15 years youl all be hankering for tech 1s and the 90s max power look will of passed
If you think 90's max power styling is a few stripes on a number plate and a set of eyebrows you need your head seen to.

I would own a tech 1 anyday but I wouldnt be paying tech 2 sport money for one, why? Because I doubt I would get my money back when selling.

Tech 2's are worth more than tech 1's. There is no real reason for it, its just the way it is.

Demand and supply

There's more peeps that like the tech 2's more than tech 1's so therefore cost more.

Tech ones are cool and look smart but you cant beat a good standard Tech 2.

That makes sense in theroy, but there are fewer tech 1's left and if you ask on here most want a tidy tech 1. Tech 2 for me BTW

my look at it, just from observing selling prices... its the same really and all dependasnt on each individual car with tech 1 and 2s right through the price range, the nicer/higher end of each, is 5-6k asking prices (theres currently ones of each for 5k for sale) but how many sell for that ? 5-6k sports hang around for sale for a while, nice ones of each are around 3.5 to 4k , then below that is just a mish mash depending on the condition, most sports that change hands and people post they have bought, look to be in the 2.5- 3k range and bought a sport that needs a bit of work/tidying to make nice , theres always tech 2s for sale on ph and ebay etc for 2-3k , aswell as nicer ones for 5k

probably because the tech 2's are popular, get chaved up and have a bad reputation, so therefore the tech ones appeal to zoners more.To my knowledge theres much more love for a standard good tech 2 than a tech one, but thats just my perspective.

The tech ones can also fetch good money like the one WLN has. Tech ones look more dated more than the tech two's.

Ok lets talk general.

Tech 2's still make more money in the uk than tech 1's.

There are far less tech 1's left than tech 2's, yet tech 2's STILL make more money.

I think that sums it up nicely.

it doesnt tho....your totaly forgeting/bypassing the fact that its all dependent on each car ,most tech 1s for sale like mentioned are hanging out their arse 1500 basket cases or ones in need of resto work , which are priced accordingly, and for their condition and prices...weigh up as worth more, to nicer tech 1s for same sort of money in terms of condition, thats how classic car values go, its all on condition

with nicer ones, tech 1 and 2...being worth around the same

and i dont own either, im speaking totaly un biased just from observing prices

Well obviously aint been looking hard enough.

The fact of the matter is, even the supposedly nice 4 grand tech 2's will be rough.

To get a nice tech 2 sport with NO issues and sensible mileage (sub 100k) with history you are looking at over 6 bags now.

I've NEVER seen a tech 1 pull more than 4.5k.

Oakey got a steal a couple of years back with what has to be the best condition tech 1 i have seen.

Forget all this nonsense about spec affecting the value with sports and iS's for that matter. Yes one with a few more options is more desirable BUT condtion, history and mileage are what matters with values on these cars.

Even before peasants and bruvs could afford 325i Sports back in the day, people were changing tech 1 kits and spoilers for tech 2.

A very nice, no rot, lowish miles, low owner tech 1 sport with good history might see £5k on a good day. A £5000 tech 2 sport will be no where near as nice!!

I've been keeping an eye on this thread for a short while because I'm trying to sell my Tech II Sport at the moment (and will unashamedly include the link right now!):

http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... highlight=

My car is quite OEM as far as these cars go with the exception of a few 'beneath the surface' mods (Z3 short shifter, top mounts, wishbones and anti-roll bar links). It's rust-free apart from a ver small spot on the sunroof panel (hardly the end of the world), has amazing history and frankly, looks the part. It's up at £4,250 yet I've had no interest in the car. Goes back to supply and demand I suppose...

I've seen cars in far worse condition (council mods, no history, higher mileage etc) advertised for more money and I know people who have paid more for cars not in quite the condition of mine yet mine is sticking around.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable with the price of mine but it's still sitting in my garage. I honestly think it's a case of hit and hope with Sports sometimes. If someone happens to be looking for one then it will sell but otherwise it just won't...

There is a demand for mint tech 2's, there is nowhere near the same demand for tech 1's in the same condition.

I doubt it.

Nice Tech 1's are already virtually non existent so why are they not worth more now?

Because the E30 is not yet a full bore "classic".

That's my feeling/ opinion on it anyway.

The original breed will always become more sought after in the long run I reckon.

Demand will always be a contributing factor on future classics and therefore be a determining factor.

The way I see it, is that the demand is low for tech ones compared to tech twos. staley turbo on here sold his mint tech 1 for not much money and it was real good one.

i bought a sport about one and a half years ago and paid top sport money for it and have not regretted it since. it needs a bit of work at the moment so is in pete's yard, but thats pretty much wear and tear. it has been well looked after and cared for with full history and moderate mileage. there were cheaper sports around at the time but they were all poor and would have cost a lot more than the price diffference to sort out.....if you look at what a new small car costs then an "expensive" sport is still a bargain (and will probably last quite a bit longer if us zoners have anything to do with it!)...........anyway, good money on a good sport is money well spent in my opinion, and hopefully for those selling nice examples for decent money, there will be a discerning buyer who will understand this.
