If my wife uses one of my cars just for her 'home to work' trip(0.8 of a mile each way)it will return less than 11mpg.....
Youth is wasted on the young.
Mine averages 18mpg but I managed 14mpg to a tank once!!

Mines doing less then 10mpg at the min.
Mine is too flipping thirsty
out of £15 I get 20 miles, local urban relaxed driving with two heavy rightfoot symdrome episodes
how about we start a thread
How to improve your mpg and then we can have a checklist created by lets say Brainmoore
I wreckon most of us could benefit from this.

My m50 would consistantly give me around 18mpg too. I get at least 23mpg from the m52 - and its only really used around town.
I did manage about 14mpg once when i had a fuel leak though

"Put your car in neutral: Coasting with your car in neutral takes the burden off your gas pedal preventing you from wasting fuel. If you’re not driving in heavy traffic, experiment with this effective money saver."
NO! So sick of hearing this on all the 'save fuel' sites. On overrun the fuel to injectors is cut. No fuel is used. At idle fuel is needed to keep the engine alive. Even ancient old Motronic 1.1 does decel fuel cut. Unless you have a carburettor you can pretty much negate this advice. Even if they are talking about light load cruise the engine is running just off idle and lean and will probably still use less fuel
/rant over.
When I first ran the megasquirt car at base calibration it did about 18-19mpg. Pulling it back to stoich took it up to 24-25 and with ultra lean cruise and a few tweaks to cold start and crank it's up at 27. This is on my usual commute, about 20mi mixed country and village.

Yeah stank of petrol, it was leaking where the FPR is attached to the fuel rail and pissing it out. Although I feel there might still be a slight leak somewhere as from time to time there's a wiff of fuel about when idling or turning it off. But now i'm getting 100 miles to £20 so I'm rather happy with that as that for now!ETERNITY wrote:how do you check this and also did yours stink of fuel on idleGreen wrote:I had a small problem somewhere with the running, with my fuel pressure reg leaking so at the time my 16 mile round trip to work cost £20 a time. I run my car to first warning yesterday and put "£15" in, she did "61.4" miles and I flapped and put petrol in lol. Didn't get first warning but it wasn't far off......
Engine is m52 so I'm impressed with this tbh, she regularly gives 40 odd miles to a tenner... But only if I'm nice!!!
With lead foot I'd get a lot less lol
What do you guys think of this? I'm not good with mpg's and I haven't yet bought the chip for my obc to read correctly

A 2 door e30 with 8 cylinders, what could be better

Thanks for that mate, acording to that my 2.8 m52 does around town on average-
25.1mpg
£15.00@ £1.34.9 per litre = 61.4 miles but.... As I said in my last post I didn't get first warning again cos I flapped lol. Could of got another 10 miles I reckon

Even around the track (nurburgring) I was only using 22euros(156.per litre) every 4 laps and at 12. something miles per lap I was very pleased the the 2.7 eta enginemonkey wrote:25 is not bad as i see there are a few making single figures. if i ever man-up enough to get on track i will know wot to expect
It's a mix of both but mainly my commute to work, today I finished up on 130 miles on £25 but that was run right down to the bottom of the red and lasted since tuesday. I had a little drive around the country lanes, a mcdonalds dinner and a couple of runs into town, that's about it!ETERNITY wrote:100 miles of £20 is that urban driving or motorwayGreen wrote:Yeah stank of petrol, it was leaking where the FPR is attached to the fuel rail and pissing it out. Although I don't go easy on the throttle down the A5

Mine will do 30+mpg if driven normally, l usually average 25ish, and it hardly get driven gently. Big donk with enough valves FTWDanThe wrote:When the light comes on you have about 5 litres left in the tank.
If I can be arsed I can get 38mpg + from my 3.2 donk
so from 20mpg up to 30 for my m50 is about the same as a s50 mpg wise but i bet you have more funpenton08 wrote:Mine will do 30+mpg if driven normally, l usually average 25ish, and it hardly get driven gently.
