any suggestions, bmw diesel??

looking to sell my eeeeh dirty seat ibiza and get a nice diesel beemer. never had bmws except for a ton of e30's so not really shore what to look for. got around 2500-3000 to spend and 1 series heaps are oooot the questions lol. any suggestions is much apreciated

3K for an E36 325tds???? Its 2011 not 2004.

Plenty of early E46 & E39 diesel turds around for that price, most with astronomical mileages. Don't discount a nice E46 318i - 40mpg on a run, cheaper to buy, maintain, fuel and far less to go wrong than the oil burners.

Fuel economy in a 5 series? 40'ish on a run in a 530d, 30s in a 525tds. Remember most of these will be automatics which will always knock a few mpg off.

mileage isnt an issue with these is it? as long as its been serviced? any tell tale signs worth looking out for?
seen a couple on the internet with engine rebuilds with 140k on the clock which is shite in my opinion considering my e30 has done 170k and no major work carried out!
