i've just convert my 87 325i cab e30 to a e36 m3 evo rack and i am experiencing a problem, at speed lets say 20mph+ and a left turn the rack moves smoothly then gets stuck?!? and you have to push it more to turn more left?!?, it also doesnt self centre whilst this happens but turning right and at low speeds there is no problem at all, i am baffled, i've checked for binding in the u'js and clearance between the exhaust mani (it has 5mm), but am still confused. Also when it gets stuck it makes a noise through the collum/or could be the pump and cant be fel too, thanks

I had this problem, really easy fix. Change your fecked engine mounts for new ones. I got, was recommended on here, ford rs escort ones. I'll get the link for you later.

No worries, I do a 250mile round trip to the highlands on fast A roads once a week and the turning left thing saw me on the wrong side of the road on occasions looking at oncoming traffic - bit brown trousers!

Swapping engine mounts is a doddle. loosen all nuts top and bottom, trolly jack and a big block of wood under sump (block of wood to spread load on sump), remove nuts on one side only, jack up engine till mount can be wiggled out, new one in, lower engine, tighten nuts on new mount finger tight, remove nuts on other mount, jack up engine again, remove old, replace with new, lower engine, nuts on, tighen all nuts, copper grease threads, take car for drive quickly into left hand bend, smile!! Easy!!
