When did E30 cab receive new tail light cluster?

Its just that I've seen some post-88/89 E30 cabs still running on the old style rear light clusters.

'91 H plate saw the later rear lights and plastic bumpers...
Mine was a '90 on an H and it was the early lights and chrome bumpers.

Hmmm.
This has been discussed a few times now - BMW just picked up and stuck whatever they felt like in many instances.
Mine was a 1991 H reg and had smaller, older style lights.
And I saw a J reg convertible which had the same smaller lights.
I thought it would be good to know, so I went about trying to find out, but eventually gave up as BMW are such a bunch of
most of the time when it comes to older cars such as the E30.
Quite frankly, I don't worry too much about it anymore, as all you'll end up doing is watsting your time and brain cells trying to figure it out
