Good thing BMW don't do that otherwise they might badge their cars made under the 'M GmbH' brand as MG!!Topblag wrote:I've just had a look at my ebay inbox and found 3 messages containing all the seller's 'proof'.
Proof my arse. None of it is convincing to me.
I'm still laughing at the "RG" stamp on the wheels being "Ronal GMBH"

Not original centre caps. Not genuine Alpina alloys.dodgydodger wrote: i just asked the guy about the center caps...and indeed i was right, made from a totaly diffrent material and defo not orginal! looking at same wheels on other sites with alen key type caps and my old man was right, center caps always diffrent shade and purchased at a later date!
Let me explain:
Genuine Alpinas have a centre cap with a proper key/lock. As you lock, it swings a metal latch around and this hooks under a grooved inner lip on the inside of the central area.
This can be seen here:

and here:

^Genuine Alpina stamped Softlines.
Please compare to the items in question:
No lip whatsoever, genuine lockable Alpina centre caps could not fit here. Moreover, you can see the the hole which lines up with the 'allen key lock' from the fake centre cap.
These reps never had genuine centre caps and were never designed to. The reason for that? They aren't genuine Alpinas.
Next.

They're actually decent enough wheels. They look better on the older cars, E24/28 etc. with the centre caps binned and the centres sprayed gloss black, thus:-

I just wanted him toi know they arent genuine. I have had a set in the past and they were great on the car.
As dan said they are actually lighter than the genuine ones

It's an interesting view that I'm an impolite muppet for reporting him, given that I gave him the chance to fix the ad before doing so.dodgydodger wrote:I sent him a message after he replied reguarding the caps, said what I thought sent him a link to this thread, he said if I wanted to buy them, for and for not been a impolite muppet and "reporting" him I could have them for a bargain price! Anyway, my objective was to stop any zoners (or any others) getting ripped off and that's been achieved so I'm happy.
