this was the outcome of my appointment with the armco barrier at llandow.
didn't hit at high speed, but once it left the damp track onto wet grass,
the steel barrier was a certainty.
another 20 feet of grass and i might of got away with it.
main piss off was the engine jolted on impact and one of the steering rack bolts has put a pinhole in the sump, so that's got to come off to be welded.
here's a few pics,

The rack will need replacing as its snapped after the joint for the track rod end.

New wing,
Grille
bumper
maybe a headlight
sump

It looks pretty bad son! (mostly cosmetic?)

Unlucky glenn :( i'm sure she'll be back soon and it's the only car i've ever seen at llandow that i could hear from the other side of the track!

i hit a barrier last week on the road, done similar damage to the body, but thankfully none underneath, got a new wing, bumper, front valance,2 grill parts, lights, light carrier and number plate, cost me about two hundred quid for parts and i fixed it myself, including spraying.

I'm sure with your skills Glenn you'll have her back to an even better standard before the impact in no time at all. It sounds a shame as it probably tarnished the excellent day, along with craigs off too. Like everyone else gutted for you mate.

as long as your ok glenn then its ok, car can always be repaired/replaced - ppl cant.

annoying about the sump, without that itd have been fairly simple.

Guys i know you and criag were on the track but its about this time each year that E30's start going to heaven and i think we all know why?

Its already been happening on the 200sx forum, so many are falling victim to the weather, so we all just need to slow down a little i think to make it through winter :D

Glenn that is shit luck mate, hope you get her all sorted and back on the road/track soon

Sorry I missed it, been on wet grass myself but span back on the track. When you hit it you seem to go faster weird sensation and you just wait for impact in slow motion. Good news tho am breaking 318i let me know if you need any bits

You should sort out what your doing with both anti-roll bar links on the car before you take it out again, and before you damage something like a brake pipe flexi!

Would be a good experiment to see the improvement in using the link to the strut instead to the bottom arm, it would give a more direct connection and take away the loss in leverage by going through the bottom arm.

Sorry to see the damage, but that's what a track day is for, finding the limits safely, OK finding this limit has cost some money, but you didn't go to the track without knowing the dangers, fair play to you, better than these idiots doing donuts in Tesco car park and endangering people by drifting on the road.
