It's also quite common for the float sensor to rotate in the bottle and give false readings.

Make sure the sensor has not moved in it's hole.

Does the one in the boot actually have a sensor?

I had this problem a few weeks ago, I cleaned all the sensors and cleaned all the contacts, works fine now. I think its because the sensors have a tendancy to get when when being filled - splashs

Just need to check every now and then.

Resevoir in boot has a sensor.
Getting the sensors wet when filling will not cause problems - it's all low impedance, low voltage circuits.

No but it still causes corrosion to the contacts... :)

Not if you assemble them with silicon grease like I advise!

Go round the corners slower?
I always found it acted as a g-force indicator on my 325i :P
The only solution was to keep it topped right up
Theres always something on a car if you go round a corner fast enough, previous car used to change radio station
Cheers,
Robin

Just wanted to say thanks to all those that helped - rotated the sensor just once and I must have found the correct position. Drove 100 miles today and it never came on.
