hello,
I put a 3,5l from a 7 serie into my 320i touring,basically for a drift use.
I put it in position 3 but I tried to put an original ventile but there is not enough room, so I put an electric ventile.
I have the original 320I radiator, my question is : will that be enough?
a friend told me that the m30 has less problems of overheat than m20.
on my 325 i had to block my original ventile to be sure that the engine was refreshed enough.
thanks
cooling problems in a 335i e30?

Hi Colix,
I would try and source a larger core, or multi core radiator that fits if you can.
A E36 M3 Rad would do the trick, plus they have plastic ends, so weight saving as well.
Just remeber to make sure that the expansion tank outlets sit at least 50mm higher than the the top of the rad, otherwise you will run into ovreheating issues, and split hoses.
Regards,
The Gorilla.

You need a rad from an E28 535, plenty big enough and dead easy to fit.
Cooling system wise i am using the E28 rad, face lift E30/M20 expansion tank, electric fan from a Pug 205, bottom rad hose is E28 535, top rad hose is E34 535. I also use a plastic T-peice from an E28 535 in the heater pipes.

you can see the rad better in this picy

this is the Pug 205 fan and the handy "Tab" that fits onto cross member thing

thanks for your help,
It seems that the e30 320 radiator is too small because i have the same setup as you andy,I tried with the e30 rad but pressure made one of my connection fail
I fixed it, but if I try to run without pression, water ran out of the expansion tank just like gorilla said.

That hole was caused by this

My last engine spun a bearing at 120mph and it went bang !
God only knows why as that engine was really sweet and M30 arn't known for being fragile ?

i used an e28 rad and a range rover v6 electric fan. theres 2 on the range rover. use the overrun fan, its got 5 fins. i tried a few different ones. all work fine till ya start messin about. i had real probs when i took it to its 1st drift event, hence the range rover 1.
ands it well easy to fit.

all this 335i business is making me excited! i just found out recently about it and i cant wait to do mine now, iv read that german site and read a lot of stuff here just need to do some shopping know.
just e few words to say that i've made some drift tests last friday.
Rad from 320 is too small as we all said before, just a few donuts before overheating, electrical fan was running but not enough.
i will buy a e28 rad...
but this engine is awesome... incredible fun... yehaaaaa
