yes it does.

the actual tech one kit is ok, and is uncracked or broken.
with the bumper and light cluster removed it wont look so bad.

it does need a new quarter and possibly a back panel - but fortunately the boot floor is undamaged.

the car had behaved superbly all day, i prob did 6 or 7 sessions in it - and apart from the temp rising a touch after 8 or so laps (of admittedly hard running) and the brakes an tyres fading a touch after extended sessions the car felt superb.

just seen the pic craig,
doesn't look too bad, it could of been much worse.
i've been to track days where, the car is totalled and the driver/passenger
gets taking away on a stretcher.
never mind, chin up, you'll just have to get it fixed instead of washing it every other day!
if you get a drift trophy, i want one as well

That was sad what happened to your car as well glen. Ive been looking forward to seeing that car for a while. And I was very impressed with how that all just about fitted in there!, well done!

I was only commenting to craig about his sport that I miss owning his car and was supprised how well it was doing on the track.

I wasnt planning on taking the m3 on, it was a last minute thing, of all the cars that could have crashed I was expecting it to be mine as its already sold and shouldnt have really been on the track!.

Im going to get another e30 or another e28 and build something for track use, that was my first time on the track and I loved every minute of it.

early sport R.I.P!!!!

dominitry, the end result of Ԛ£300 fixing that would be terrible. its going to cost alot more than that if you want a proper job.

im with JonB. Stick a "1" in front of the 300 and you are talking about a quality job. Ԛ£300 will get you a bodge. trust me.

Starting at the bottom - the black rub strip that goes round the bumper - thats Ԛ£65 from the stealers and you cant get them at GSF.
The left side metal part of the bumper is wanked and so is the centre part. thats another Ԛ£60 from GSF when you add the vat.
GSF dont do the small covering cap that covers the join between these two, and thats just under Ԛ£8 from stealers (GSF dont do them)
The mtech rear valance is bent so much you probably wont be able to make it PROPERLY straight again. Add Ԛ£50 for a second hand one off the zone.
New light cluster Ԛ£29+vat from GSF, or buy second hand and have odd looking rear lights.
Pray the aerial hasnt been whacked too, or it MAY be another Ԛ£90 (we wont count this though)
New rear quarter panel is going to set you back about Ԛ£40 if you buy a shit quality pattern part. something like Ԛ£120+ from the stealers
You'll need to graft a new outer arch in. Add Ԛ£20 for a pattern part.
Pray you havnt bent or split the outer piece of the inner wheel arch, or thts another Ԛ£30 odd quid.
Thats Ԛ£305 in parts alone, right there!

Now Add paint.

Now Add labour.

And Ԛ£300 was a suggested repair bill???? Ummm... i dont think so.

I know im sounding harsh, but consider me a bite of reality. Ive spent money on a tech 1 sport. I know the cost of bits (coz ive bought almost everything there is to buy for the bodywork for mine) so please, nobody go suggesting that Ԛ£300 will cover it, because i KNOW for a fact that it wont.

Craig, sorry to hear about your turd, but trust me , to repair that PROPERLY will cost a lot more than Ԛ£300 .
. Can i have 8th dibs on the remains , unlike the rest of these sharks i am a collecter of early sports and would love to see it returned to its former splendour ! , not callously cut up for morsels

And the rear cluster too, not too expensive from ebay but adds costs...
Anyway, all the best mate, that car deserves honey and lemon !

How will one new light cluster perfectly match an older light cluster? Surely a second hand one will be a better match.

NicDale, im sure you remember how clean the car is, but an old rear light will look grim compared to the good one thats left on this sport. (Cluster looks almost new, rather than beatten up and old)

In what way does a second hand cluster differ in appearamce from a new one? It's all plastic and hardly suffers from stone damage.
Bit of Brasso and it'll shine like a new one.

No, there will be no remains, go vulture somewhere else as the Sport will be back no matter what it takes, and she'll be back on track.

Hi Craig, the damage does not look nice and, not wanting to jump on the band wagon, that must be a 4-figure repair :( . Put it this way, if that was done on the road and you involved insurers it would be a write off.

I would be the same as you if I had a mint tech-1 sport and want to get it back to it's former glory, but at the same time I would not be taking that on track. Would it not be worth getting a Ԛ£500 shitter for track abuse? Something you can walk away from.

This is why I prerer drag racing for my car, no corners to go mad in or some other nutter lunge up the inside and collect you or spin across your path

Well, i know it was nice but i always intended on using it for what it was made for, it's not the most expensive car in the world so I'm not too gutted, no regrets taking it on track the error was my fault I'm young and I'm too cocky, I'll get a quote for a repair and see what the damage is cost wise before i make my mind up.

The way i see it is i have 3 choices..

Fix it
Turn it into a track car
Break it

I don't want to break it as it would be a shame breaking a tech 1, and definitely one thats only done 91k miles, another e30 as a track car..well i dunno, the way this handled on track just amazed me so much, Chaos and DaleR took it out and also said the same.

petes not having a dig craig, he always calls older cars "turds"

as for those ppl who say it cant be repaired cheaply - that all depends who you know, and whether you buy new or s/h parts etc.
Myself, craig, richy an dale have friends round here who work in body/spray shops - im sure for a m8s car thats had an accident we can get a good price.
